What are the differences in Waydoo models?

First, let's break down some of the common questions we receive about Waydoo efoils. As of 2025, there are four Waydoo Evo models available:

  • Waydoo Evo Pro Lite
  • Waydoo Evo Pro Plus
  • Waydoo Evo Max Plus
  • Waydoo Evo Master Plus

While there are overlapping components and general operations, each are distinct.

The Waydoo Max Plus is engineered for larger riders and beginners. Its large 130L is stable and ideal for those who want to feel confident right from the get-go.

The Evo Pro Lite is their performance-backed option. It's ideal for smaller riders, downwinders, and wake foilers. If you have board skills and want to keep improving them without too much assistance, this is a great, affordable option.

The Pro Plus is a good in-between from the Max Plus and Pro Lite. It has sensors and a flight assistance system that offers more stability.

Finally, the Master Plus is for advanced riders. Its premium construction makes it light and fast, meaning you're getting the most performance available.

Types of Powerflight Batteries

Waydoo's EVO models currently come with a standard 1800Wh or an upgraded 2300Wh capacity. The standard option lets you have a lighter board, which is ideal for agility-focused models like the Pro Lite. The 2300Wh battery lets you ride longer and may be ideal for larger riders.

Types of Front & Rear Wings

Depending on your model, you may have multiple wings to choose from. Let's break down the differences:

Waydoo Front Wing Comparison

The Voyager G1500 and C1500 models are well-balanced wings focusing on lift and stability. They're great for beginners and those trying out some new techniques, like carving or riding in small waves.

If you're after a more steamlined front wing, the Glider G1500 or C1500 is a good choice. These wings focus on lift, efficiency, and stability.

Finally, if you need a performance option, look into the Voyager G1100 or C1100, ideal for surfing, speed, and maneuverability.

Maintenance & Care

Your Waydoo has been delivered and you're on your way to your first sessions. Here's what you need to consider pre and post-flight to ensure the longevity of your efoil.

Check for Firmware Updates

Occasionally, your EVO will need updating. Checking for updates when you first receive your board and before you leave for the beach is essential. No one wants to be stranded!

Updates can be done by connecting your board through the Waydoo app. Then, you will be able to see a list of available updates.

Pro Tip: If you're updating the remote, make sure it's fully charged or plugged in, as this can take awhile.

Make Sure You've Packed Everything

It's funny to say, but we cannot tell how many times we've had to run back for a piece or two before we could start riding. Save yourself the hassle and time by triple-checking that you have all your equipment before you leave for your riding spot.

Post-Session Care

Once you're done riding, make sure you do the following:

  • Rinse all components of debris with fresh water, gently wipe with a towel, and let it dry, preferrably in a shaded area like a garage
  • Use a cotton swab and alcohol to clean the battery DC ports and buttons
  • Once dry, check all of the components for any excess wear or tear

Periodic Maintenance

If you're not using your Waydoo for awhile (say, it's the end of the season), you'll want to periodically check on your components to make sure they're properly stored and cared for, including:

  • Check the appearnce of all compontents for good condition
  • Keep the battery charged 40-60% full to avoid over-discharge
  • Store battery and charger in a cool place, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures (like your car)
  • Use lubricants or rust removers for specific parts where necessary
  • Check the condition of the remote, checking that it can turn on and function

Safety Tips

We know you're excited to get out on the water. Below are some reminders on staying safe out in the water.

  • Don't go farther out than you can swim!
  • Stay at least 100 meters away from swimmers
  • Always wear a life jacket. Preferrably, it's brightly-colored to be seen on the water easier.
  • Bring a buddy. There's power (and more fun) in numbers!
  • Always carry and mount onto the board correctly.
  • Ride in areas with at least 2 meters in depth and watch out for sandbars or obstacles.

Pro Tip: Your Waydoo will automatically go to "Low Power Safety Mode" at 20% battery life. This is your sign to get back to shore!

Waydoo Title Transfer Request Form

You've bought your new Waydoo, but you'll need to get it registered with your state. (If you're unfamiliar, we recommend reading our article about eFoils being considered vessels by the U.S. Coast Guard.)

You should have received your paperwork in your board box. If not, please fill out the form on this page to request another copy.

Waydoo FAQs

Is Waydoo suitable for beginners?

Yes, absolutely! We've seen riders with little board skills be up and riding in a few sessions. Even as a novice, make sure you pay attention to the water around you and remember the safety tips stated above.

How deep does the water need to be to efoil?

You'll want the water to be more than 2 meters deep. That way, you're likely out of the way of obstacles. If you're in shallower waters, like in the Caribbean, you might need a shorter mast to accomodate your riding conditions.

Should I buy secondhand? What if I find it on a really cheap website?

Ideally, you would buy your Waydoo from a reputable shop (like us!). That being said, we know there are listings available on websites claiming the same product for significantly cheaper. Our advice? Don't do it.

If you're buying secondhand, make sure you give everything a thorough inspection. Test the remote, check the battery indicator lights, and look at the components for any damage. If you can, ride before you buy. You don't want to be out potentially the whole summer because you wanted to save a few hundred dollars.

When you perform updates, do you need to connect to Bluetooth?

Your Waydoo will need to be connected via Bluetooth and the app. This allows you to update your components, track your sessions, and file warranty claims.
