The propulsion unit sits behind and above the foil, providing the perfect boost to catch waves, cruise in light wind, or power into downwinders. How long do FLITELab AMPJet batteries last?
It depends — just like wave size and session length! Battery life varies based on rider weight, board and foil size, and water conditions. AMPJet runs in two modes:
- Boost: Delivers around 5 seconds of full-thrust power (give or take 2 seconds).
- Paddle Assist: Offers a low-power push for about 60 seconds to help you get back into position.
With two AMPCell_142 batteries, you can expect roughly 40 combined Boosts or Paddle Assists, enough for most riders to enjoy a full 2-hour session.
How much extra weight does AMPJet add to my setup?
Depending on your configuration, AMPJet adds between 3.5kg (one AMPCell) and 4.5kg (two AMPCells). The smart part? That weight is positioned directly over the lift from your front wing. Once you’re up and riding, it feels surprisingly nimble and balanced.
Do I need to replace the cartridge every time I ride?
Not at all. AMPJet cartridges are fully reusable and built to last. No matter which size AMP board you ride, the cartridges are compatible across the lineup. This makes it easy to switch from one board to another without hassle.
Can I fly with AMPCell_142 batteries?
Yes, with a little planning. The AMPCell_142 comes in under the 160Wh limit accepted by most airlines, but carry-on approval still depends on individual airline policies. Always double-check with your carrier ahead of time, and remember: batteries must be brought in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
