Mystic Gust Windbreaker Review: How to Stay Warm Without a Thicker Wetsuit
Skip is one of the OG kiteboarders here in West Michigan, so when he finds a piece of gear he really likes, we pay attention. Today it's... a windbreaker? Yep, and according to Skip, it can be a real session saver during those shoulder-season months when the water is still relatively warm but the wind has a bite to it.
What Is the Mystic Gust Windbreaker?
The Mystic Gust is a windbreaker designed specifically for watersports. It cuts the chill from the breeze when a thicker wetsuit would

Reedin SuperModel V6 Overview: Lightweight Aerolite Frame Upgrade on a Kite for Anyone
After more than five years on the market, the SuperModel has become the foundation of Reedin's lineup, and for good reason. It's known as a true do-it-all kite that works for nearly every rider. Now in its sixth version, the question is simple: Can you improve a kite that already does everything so well?
Jeff caught up with Kevin Langeree in Tarifa to find out what's new and whether it's worth the upgrade.
What's New in the SuperModel V6?
The biggest update for V6 is the introduction of

Reedin HyperModel Kite Review: Fast Loops and Big Air Performance
The HyperModel was developed in collaboration between Reedin and Brainchild. Ralf Groesel, Damien Girardin, and Kevin Langeree all contributed to its design with their combined years of experience. The goal was to create a kite that delivered more of everything you want in big air: higher lift, longer hangtime, faster loops, and better bar feedback. So how does the result stack up to the wishlist?
What Is the Reedin HyperModel?
If you're familiar with kites produced in the Brainchild fac

Airush Ultra Team V5 Kite Review
The Ultra Team V5 from Airush takes the concept of kite foiling efficiency further, introducing a design change that directly targets airflow, stability, and drive.
Jeff spent some time with Will during MACkite's King of the Great Lakes festival, which had pretty marginal conditions. Based on what Jeff saw, it's clear the way this kite flies is noticeably different.
A Double Surface Design That Changes Airflow
The defining feature of the Ultra Team V5 is its double surface leading edge.

Why the Ride Engine Empax Vest Is a Shop Favorite
When riders ask us about flotation, the first thing we usually have to do is slow the conversation down. Not all vests are built for the same purpose. And if you kiteboard or wing foil, what you need on the water looks very different than what a boater might need.
The Ride Engine Empax Vest has become one of our go-to recommendations because it strikes a balance that actually works in real riding conditions. We’ve used it kiting in powered summer sessions, winging in choppy Lake Mic

Brazilian Brothers Review the 2025 North Reach Kite
The Reach is a three-strut all-around freeride kite by North. It's been the do-it-all kite in North's lineup for a few years now, so the Brazilian Brothers were excited to see how the 2025 version performed from a big air perspective.
What's New with the North Reach?
There are two big improvements to the 2025 Reach. The first is that the leading edge now uses N-MAX 2. This material allows for a leading edge with a reduced diameter, which not only makes it lighter, but more aerodynamic as

Brazilian Brothers Overview of the F-One Trigger TEC Kite
F-One sent the Brazilian Brothers a Trigger TEC to try out, so they headed down to the beach in Prea where Rubens geared up, pumped up, and launched, excited to see how it handled and whether he could get some good jumps in the 25 knot conditions.
What Is the Trigger TEC?
Available in sizes from 6-12m, the Trigger TEC is a 5-strut high-performance big air kite that shares its DNA with the Trigger Brainchild, but is more intuitive and forgiving. Its leading edge and struts use CODE-TEC, a

Brazilian Brothers Review the Record-Breaking Harlem Peak
The Peak is a big air/freeride kite from Harlem, and there was quite a bit of buzz around its release when Lorenzo Casati pulled off the highest kiteloop in history with a prototype. Of course, he's a pro rider, so what does that mean for your sessions? Rubens of the Brazilian Brothers has the breakdown on the Peak's performance.
What Is the Harlem Peak?
Like all Brainchild designs, the Peak was developed by Ralf Groesel, and he brought his years of experience to the table. Here's what t

Brazilian Brothers Review the Harlem Lead Bar
The Harlem Lead has become one of the Brazilian Brothers' favorite kiteboarding control bars, and for good reason. Not only does it have an auto-untwist system, but it works flawlessly, and they'd have a hard time going back to a bar without it. But there are a couple little things that aren't quite perfect, too. So is this still a bar they'd recommend?
Auto-Untwist System
The standout feature of the Harlem Lead bar is its auto-untwist system and, even after a couple months of hard use, i

Reedin WhisperModel Light Wind Test
The Reedin WhisperModel makes some impressive claims for light wind riding. Jeff decided to put it all on the line and rigged up, heading out on a twintip in just 9-11 knots. So, are these claims fact or just a flaunt?
Not only was he able to get up and ride, but he could even tack back upwind in choppy bumps. He had to stay focused, but he came ashore where he put in, no Walk of Shame required. It would seem that the Whisper is a win in light wind.

Duotone Evo D/LAB vs. Harlem Thrive
The Brazilian Brothers love big air kites, but they also know that they're not all created equal. They'll all boost you high enough to pull some impressive moves or just enjoy the view from up there, but each kite has its own personality. In their Versus series, the Brothers break down the differences between two kites to help you find the perfect match.
Up this time are the 2026 Duotone Evo D/LAB and the Harlem Thrive, and testing day brought 25-30 knot winds, perfect for a big air sess
