Reedin SuperModel V6 Overview: Lightweight Aerolite Frame Upgrade on a Kite for Anyone
After more than five years on the market, the SuperModel has become the foundation of Reedin's lineup, and for good reason. It's known as a true do-it-all kite that works for nearly every rider. Now in its sixth version, the question is simple: Can you improve a kite that already does everything so well?
Jeff caught up with Kevin Langeree in Tarifa to find out what's new and whether it's worth the upgrade.

What's New in the SuperModel V6?
The biggest update for V6 is the introduction of the Aerolite Frame. According to Kevin, this new leading edge material makes the kite:
- Lighter
- More responsive
- Faster in the air
At the same time, the team refined the bridle system to further improve overall performance.
According to Kevin, the goal wasn't to reinvent the kite, but to enhance what already works. "We made the kite lighter and more responsive... but still kept that SuperModel DNA."

Lighter Feel Without Sacrificing Durability
Any time a kite gets lighter, durability becomes a concern. Kevin explained that while weight reduction was a priority, longevity was never compromised: "We want to make high-end products, but durability is one of the most important things for us."
The result is a kite that feels more lively in the air while still holding up over time.

Why the SuperModel Still Works for 95% of Riders
One thing that hasn't changed is the SuperModel's versatility. This is still a kite that loves:
- Twintip riding
- Strapless surf
- Foiling
- Beginner to advanced skill levels
Kevin puts it simply: "This kite fits for 95% of kiters." That's a big reason why it was Reedin's only kite model for years, and why so many riders keep coming back to it.

What Returning Riders Will Notice
If you've ridden a previous version, expect to find everything you already like, but more refined:
- Intuitive feel and easy positioning in the sky
- Reliable lift and boost for jumping
- Smooth, predictable loops
- Excellent drift for wave riding
- Strong stability for foiling in lighter winds
The biggest difference is a lighter, more responsive feel that makes the kite even more fun to fly.
New Colorways for 2025
The SuperModel V6 also gets a fresh visual update with three color options:
- Mint (Kevin's personal favorite)
- Blue
- Gray with pink (limited edition)
The designs are clean, modern, and look great on the water.

Should You Upgrade?
If your current SuperModel is a few years old, V6 offers a noticeable step forward in:
- Weight
- Responsiveness
- Overall feel
However, it doesn't change the core experience. This is still the same trusted, all-around kite, just more refined and more fun.
Final Thoughts
Reedin didn't try to reinvent the SuperModel with V6, and that's exactly why it works. By focusing on lighter materials and subtle tuning, they've improved performance without losing the kite's identity. If you already love the SuperModel, you'll feel right at home. And if you've never tried one, this might be the best version yet to start with.
