Top Questions Answered About Cabrinha's Fusion X-Series and H-Series Hydrofoils

Cabrinha's Daniel Ware chats with Aaron from MACkite at King of the Great Lakes Test Fest. Together, they tackle the most common questions about the Fusion Foil System.

Daniel: Thanks for having me, Aaron.

Aaron: Yeah dude, welcome. It's always good to see you.

Daniel: It's flat and straight offshore, but we had some fun winging yesterday and got some pumping around behind skis today.

Aaron: You milked every little bit out of that. It's nice to be able to show people what is possible when you get out on some of the light wind equipment rigged with the right foil. What are some questions that you're getting on a repeated basis from your dealers or from customers in regards to the Cabrina Fusion foil system? Is there anything that stands out that we can help to clarify about the Fusion system?

Daniel: The Fusion system is back for its third year since the original X-Series foils that we introduced in 2020. Now, the Fusion system is made up of two different foil lines: our mid / low aspect X-Series and our high aspect H-Series. These evolutions are in their second range of products.

Aaron: Once you get it in your hands, one of the first things that you notice is that there's very low tolerance on these fittings in the way that this is integrated and put together. The fuselage system is very solid.

Daniel: It's super streamlined and simplistic. We try to keep it as easy as possible to understand, and I think we really achieved that. There are just the two ranges of hydrofoil front wings, and those fit onto a pretty simple fuselage system with small, medium, and large options. We have four different tail options, from a 180 Streamline High Aspect tail, to our V-Series Tails that come in 180, 230, and 285.

To further simplify things, you can now purchase Cabrinha foils as a kit. The kit consists of your front wing, your fuselage, and your tail. There are kits in all different sizes in each family of foils, whether you're on a high-aspect foil or a mid-aspect foil.

Aaron: So you can mix and match that. You get your front wing, your stabilizer, and your fuselage.

Daniel: Totally. You can buy them a la carte or you can buy them as a kit, which also includes a mast. Whatever is easiest for you. Say you're already in the Fusion foil range and you're on the H-1000 or 1200, or even on the X-1600 or the 1950. You can easily swap out for a new front wing on the same mast. You're in the same family of foils and it's all cohesive and compatible.

The idea behind the kits is that you get a foil kit out the box that's dialed with a tail that we feel fits that front wing best. Then you choose your option of a mast, whether you want to go with the hollow alloy or the hollow carbon for 2023. They're two very different mast options.

Aaron: It's got a nice, clean fit on the interface here. I can see that I'm going to want to make sure that I blow this out to keep the sand out of this. That would definitely make for a little challenge otherwise, but for the sake of such a nice, clean, solid fit, I'm absolutely going to make sure that I quick blow out any sand that's in there.

Daniel: Yeah, and a little freshwater rinse for our saltwater users goes a long way. I would imagine that even here, coming off the beach on the freshwater lakes, a clean rinse is still a good idea.

Aaron: We have such a fine, granular sand here. I always carry a little brush. Keep your parts clean, and you won't have any problem.

Daniel: Right. And to emphasize the compatibility with other years, this uses that same attachment system from the original X-Series, and it's going to be the same attachment in the future. Once you get into the range of Fusion foils, you're set. This interface is going to match. The same thing with the tails and your fuselage connections. You can always play with a shorter or longer fuselage and bigger or smaller tails to fine tune your ride.

Aaron: That's really cool. These just look smooth, and I've really got to spend some more time with these because the Cabrinha Fusion foil series is amazing, and I highly recommend it.

If you have any questions or want to stop in and check them out, please do. They are incredible and we get such good feedback about these. Daniel, thank you for helping us to clarify some of those questions around the Fusion Foil System. Until next time, we hope to see you guys on the water.
