2023 Slingshot Misfit V11 Carbon Review
This is Dustin and Pat from MACkiteboarding.com here to talk about the brand new Misfit v11 Carbon from Slingshot.
Misfit Carbon Characteristics
Dustin: It's a stellar board. Super lightweight, oh my gosh.
Pat: Yeah, this has to be the lightest board Slingshot has ever made.
Dustin: It definitely has a flatter profile. There's not a crazy amount of rocker.
Pat: No, pretty flat rocker, but it has enough flex, even with it being a carbon board. It's not a super stiff carbon. Some brands make a carbon board, and the thing turns into an absolute plank where you have no flex on the board at all. But this is still pretty flexy. The carbon on this board just made it lighter weight.
Dustin: Yeah, right off the bat I was like, "Oh my gosh, the flex in this thing is stellar."
Pat: Even with as flat a rocker as it has, and the really choppy conditions we were testing it in yesterday, it absorbed it, no problem. Normally, with a carbon board that flat, I'd look at it and just think about my knees hurting the next day, but this thing was no problem.
Dustin: There also was not a ton of spray up from the board, so not a lot of water in the eyes. It was awesome.
Pat: It was soft on the landings. I could come down pretty hard on the thing and it would absorb it well.
Who's It For? Pros and Cons?
Dustin: It's probably going to be for somewhere in between your intermediate to advanced rider. A big pro for me was the flex for a carbon board. It was awesome. For cons, there was not a ton of rocker, so you've got to put a little extra into your pops to really get up there.
Pat: With that rocker being how it is, and the flex of the board, I did dig a tip every once in a while on landing. When you're landing a little hot and have that flex, the board rebounds and you actually end up stuffing the tip. It's just one of those things that's going to happen in choppy conditions with a flexier board.
Dustin: I'd say if you're in more of a flat water spot, this is the board for you. If you're in a bit more of a choppy spot, it's definitely still doable.
Pat: I see this filling in nicely in the Slingshot range. It takes some of that performance that they have in the Formula, but blends in the style of the Misfit board that people have been loving. It's great for those people who are looking at high performance boards but don't want to step into something as crazy stiff as a Formula.
Dustin: It's super lightweight. It's going to be awesome for travel by keeping your weight down.
