2017 Cabrinha Fireball Control System Overview

MACkite Talks 2017 Cabrinha Fireball

Hey guys, it's Nathan from MACkite. We’re going to talk about the all-new 2017 Cabrinha Fireball system. The big question this year is going to be - ‘why to get a new Fireball system?’ We’ve been used to loops for years and they’ve worked very well for most situations, and now Cabrinha really threw a wrench in our entire plan for how we connect to our kites. Now, for the last however many years, we’ve been using a loop-and-hook system, and that’s been working for the most part very well.

There have been a few exceptions, two of which involve the release of the kite or foul hooking, and there are some benefits that come with moving towards a little bit different of a system. A Fireball is the first approach at trying something new, and for 2017 Cabrinha did a fantastic job of finding the solid balance of not-too-different and fixing a couple problems to move forward with a really great product.

Now, the big question that everyone’s going to be asking for 2017: Fireball or Quickloop? Well, with the traditional loop, you can unhook and do any sort of freestyle riding, usable with any style harness, including Ride Engine or any other brand. Fireball is unique to its own spreader bar, so you need that spreader bar and you need that release system to make it work. But with this, you get a few added bonuses.

First off, Fireball is very closely kept to your body, unlike a lot of other traditional harnesses where the hook is out a few inches and the loop is around that hook. This means a control system that’s a few extra inches away from your body, whereas Fireball brings that in just a touch and it actually makes a difference. What you’ll notice is that your harness will ride up less and you’ll have a little more direct feel and control with your kite. Secondly, Fireball does a really good job of completing the loop from you to your kite, so Fireball is its own completely engineered and closed system. What you’ll find with that is 100% efficacy of release. It’s a very safe and well-designed system. The third side of this is the additional performance it adds - you have a 360 degree rotational head on that, so you can ride toe-side without much constraint and do any sort of transition or anything where your hook would move around or bind you.

This is a very fluid, high-performance system. Once again, if you’re not going to unhook, and if you can see the added bonuses to having that completely closed system, Fireball might well be the right system for you. Guys, if you ever have questions regarding this, please let us know and we’ll help you out. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you soon.
