King of the Great Lakes Kitesurf Competition Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon, Michigan October 2 - 4, 2009 Welcome to the 9th annual King of the Great Lakes Kiteboarding Competition. It is hard to imagine we had 4 guys show up in 2001 and this year we expect 30-40 competitors and over 100 kiteboarders. We have moved the venue just 1/2 mile north of the MAC shack this year and will be doing all of our registrations and hanging out right at the pier head at Captain Jack's on the Beach Restaurant.Check out the map and you will see that we have flat water riding for freestyle on a north or south wind. The Pier will provide a great spot for spectators and photographers to enjoy the action up close and personal. We do ask that only competitors ride within the pier heads during the event. It is a small area with room for only 4-6 riders. This year we expect to have a full range of 2010 Demo gear available from Cabrinha and Naish. Special thanks to Dakine for the Rash Guards. KoGL draws all the Midwest riders as well as many pros to the event annually. This year's format has also been changed to be a free ride competition with the riders deciding the outcome. Whoever pushes themselves and the sport the hardest will walk away with the title "King of The Great Lakes" as judged by their peers. A course racing event will be held all 3 days if winds and waves permit. This year's event will have something for everyone. Join in on a massive down winder, ride in the shelter of the pier, or just hang out and watch the crew throw down. Whatever your style, this is the event not to be missed this year.
