Properly caring for your Waydoo will help improve the long-term performance. Below are a few steps to get you started:
- Rinse thoroughly — flush the motor mount, motor shroud, propeller, and propeller guard. Then, clean the mast plug and the mast. After, rinse the battery, terminal, and buttons. Finally, rinse the remote.
- Let everything dry completely before putting back into cases or charging.
Storage Tip: If you're storing your battery for longer than 2-3 weeks, keep your battery between 40-60% charged. Store in a cool, dry place, and check battery levels every few weeks and recharge as needed.
Electric hydrofoils and electric assist foils can be dangerous, especially to new riders. But, if you're careful and aware of those around you, it's a thrilling sport that most everyone can enjoy.
To stay safe on the water, keep in mind of the following:
- Be aware of local and state laws. Some areas require registrations or specific gear, like, CG-approved vests, to operate an efoil lawfully.
- Stay at least 100 feet away from swimmers.
- Always e-foil with an extra person!
- Be aware of sandbanks, rocks, and shallow areas. They can damage your foil and potentially hurt you as well.
- Our biggest tip: Never go out further offshore than what you're able to swim! It's a long paddle with an efoil, especially if you run out of battery.

Learning how to efoil can be a slow process, especially if you're not used to balancing on a board. In general, it's a three-step process. First, you'll start on your stomach, then progress to your knees, and finally advance to a standing position. This progression lets you learn how to control the board properly, understand how to use the remote, and feel the balance of the board as it responds to your movements. Once you get the hang of it, it's a blast! Don't be discouraged if it takes more than 5 minutes for you to get up and riding. The key to success is slowly and methodically learning — you're going to wipe out! Learn from your mistakes, give yourself a pep talk to get back onto the board, and try again. You'll be riding in no time!
