Wakefoiling with no Wake

Wakefoiling with no Wake

Wakefoiling is so much fun! The only downside is some believe you need a fancy wakeboat that costs upwards of 100k to get into it. Thing is, that's completely false.

With the efficiency of modern foils, it's possible to do a dock start and pump with no wake whatsoever. With this in mind, it goes without saying that you can wakefoil behind most boats, from small outboard engine boats to family-friendly used pontoon boats. This year the team picked up a pontoon boat for foil lessons, but the guys quickly realized they could actually have a lot of fun behind this thing.

Pat Taylor had the chance to demo the North Scoop, Swell, 1450 high aspect wing, and 1850 low aspect wing. We had a lot of fun running doubles on Lake Michigan and doing some solo laps on the Grand River. This little boat really doesn't kick up much wake at all, but it gets the job done with these wings.

We've a couple reviews with Pat on the gear we tried planned out later this month, and we'll be trying more gear behind this small boat over the summer on windless days. Hopefully this video inspires a few of you to get out and try foiling behind whatever you can get a hold of to pull you around!
