Wingfoil Stance
Your stance while foiling any craft is a key for the highest performance and ease of use. In this blog we will go over the basics of your stance as it relates to your front and back foot offset from the centerline.
If you’re on a smaller wing keeping your feet closer to the center line. About an inch or two. If you’re riding a larger wing in lighter wind conditions you’ll want to have your feet offset by two to four inches. Your leading food will be near the heelside edge while your rear

WIngfoiling Jibe Basic
The Jibe is the first transition you need to learn in wingfoiling. Like everything wing, I encourage you to watch this video and practice the wing movement on the beach before taking it to the water. You can develop tons of wingskills without the spills right on the beach.
Keep backhand pressure
The Jibe is a downwind transition. You may switch your feet before or after the transition. You may also chose to simply ride toeside after your jibe. The key to nailing these that I

Wingsurfing Light Wind Pumping Techniques
Light wind windsurfing / wingfoiling can be challenging, to say the least. Like kitesurfing, it takes a great deal of time to develop the skill set. The biggest challenge in light wind foiling is simply getting up onto foil. A well-practiced wing pumping technique, paired with foil pumping skills, is going to make all the difference. For this quick tutorial, we're going to cover the skills needed to pump maximum power into your wing. Right now, I find that with these techniques I can ad

Cabrinha Crosswing X2 Review
We were able to get our hands on the
Cabrinha Crosswing X2 for testing this month. Right out of the gate, it's clear this is an upgrade from the first gen Cabrinha wing which, to be honest, was our least favorite. For the second generation, they have done their homework and made a great competitive wing.
The wing has a lot of power for its size. I had the chance to test this on a gusty inland lake with lulls of 14 and highs of 25. When pumping the wing, I found there was a

Naish Ultra Carbon Wing/ SUP Board Review
The Naish Ultra Carbon Wing/ SUP board started off as a SUP board in previous years. However, it became far more popular with wing foilers. So, for 2021 Naish made some modifications to adapt to this new sport. Including new sizes from 40 liters to 140 liters!
I’ve been using the 85L myself. At 195 lbs this is the perfect do it all board for me on. This would be ideal for someone around my weight that wants an intermediate to advance do-it-all wingsurf board. It worlds well for me in a v

Airush Freewing Review
This summer, I’ve been using the 4 and the 5m Airush freewing. These are solid chunky wings with some surprises up their sleeve. They are medium to low aspect wings with a not so large wingspan that makes whipping and flipping them around a breeze while doing more advanced maneuvers. The graphics are basic and clean with a mature look that I think are kind of cool in its own right. The windows are quite large and they sit really far forward on the wing.Windows are not all that useful to me pers

Slingshot UFO Hydrofoiling Kite Review
Is it an airplane, jet, or weather balloon? To many conspiracists’ delight, what we are looking at is a real UFO. Rather than an “Unidentified Flying Object” that you would see at Area 51, we are looking at Slingshots strutless kite known as the “Unlimited Foiling Object.” This is Slingshot’s only strutless kite in their lineup, and one of the few strutless kites in the market today. Due to the fact that it is so light and completely dedicated to foiling, it has already become a favorite h

Fanatic Sky Wing Review
This spring we’ve been fortunate to test a few new wingboards. In addition to my past favorites, the Naish Ultra SUP 110L, 95L, and F-one Rocket Wing 5’4 the Fanatic Skywing 5’4” 95L has also stood out as a next level wing foilboard. Perfect for riders of most levels, it’s nimble, easy for learning (at light to mid weights) without making performance tradeoffs once you are more advanced. This has been my go to board for a few weeks and something tells me, it’s going to be one of

Slingshot Slingwing V2 Review
Slingshot was awesome enough to send us the new Slingwing V2. Being on quarantine I had plenty of time to session the beaches near my house. Lucky for me I live in a quiet beach town up north and it's still so cold, our beaches are empty. Like hydrofoiling, foil wings are evolving fast! We’ve had a lot of time on all the different styles and we’re very excited about the new developments on this second generation wing from Slingshot.
The 5.4 is my choice at 200

Comparing Duotone's Spirit Surf & Carve Hydrofoil - Foil Fridays
Duotone has really stepped up their Hydrofoil and Foil board game for the 2019/2020 season. They have completely overhauled their foil design for the 2020 season and now offer five new complete foils. Every part of their foil has been re-thought and as a result, nothing the previous years will be compatible. Normally I’d think of that as a bad thing, but it was necessary to improve the design to the level that it is now. Across the whole line, you will find a much stiffer and durable

Foil Fridays - Cabrinha Varial and Carve Hydrofoil Overview
Expanding the line-up
We have been waiting for Cabrinha to add some surfy foils to their program for some time. The new Cabrinha Carve and Cabrinha Varial Medium and Large foils have finally delivered. These wings expand Cabrinha's hydrofoil program to help those riders looking for easy progression, light wind performance, and support for a slower, surfy style ride. Let's start with the platform for these surf foils and go into the differences between the wings.
Some highlights for the

State of Wing Surfing and Gear
Wing Surfing is the hottest new thing for SUP and hydrofoilers. If you are not already familiar, Wing Surfing uses a small inflatable kiteboard kite-looking sail that is handheld similarly to a windsurf sail. This, paired with a paddleboard or foilboard, allows the rider to capture wind power in a unique way for windsport basics, downwinders, flatwater play, and even foil surfing waves. Riders who have experience hydrofoiling, paddleboarding, and windsurfing will have a si
