Let's Chat: 2017 North Dice w/ Jake
Jake on the 2017 North Dice
The Firecracker! or as you might know it. The 2017 North Dice. What's new, and what kind of rider will benefit from this kite.
What is great about the Dice is it really has something to offer anyone. Whether you are into unhooked wakestyle/freestyle. Hooked in riding with some serious flair, waves or kite loops. This kite loops especially well! The Dice is North's answer to riders willing to sacrifice a little wind range for an exceptionally high performance all around kite.

So, what's new with the 2017 Dice?
This year you can expect some minor refinements that will make a noticeable difference. First, the Canopy will be a little stiffer in the center. A large part of this is due to the new panel design which has a massive impact on the structure and flying characteristics. The LE Dacron strip and 3d canopy shaping introduced on the 2016 Vegas has been brought over to the Dice. All of these changes will make for a more aggressive yet controlled unhooked feel on the Dice.

All that said, you can still expect the same playful nature that was so exuberant in the 2016 iteration.
Another major change this year is the pigtails.

There are three very different lengths sewed to the tips of the canopy. Resulting in three balanced settings for slow, medium and Fast turning Speeds. For most riders using the default Medium setting will be optimal.
The Medium setting will have slightly lighter Bar Pressure than 2016.
For unhooked riders in need of a slower kite with more feedback the slow setting is recommended. This will provide you with heavier bar pressure and a less responsive kite. Perfect for landing handle passes. If you want to go in the waves the fast setting will be optimal as this turning speed will be the most important factor riding the Dice in the surf.
So who is the Dice for?
Intermediate to advanced riders looking to take their skills to the next level.

Regardless of your discipline, the Dice will help you get there. Explosive pop direct feedback, fast powerful kite loops. The only real trade off for such high performance is a slightly smaller wind range. To counter this we encourage you to ride a size up from what you might be conditioned.
