Electric Bike Journey: Angela's (Water)Foul Bike Ride
Angela's Foul Bike Ride
Not long ago, I was traveling down the West Michigan lakeshore on a Pedego City Commuter. The day could not have been more perfect...sunny, slight breeze, and hardly a cloud in sight. Everything was going well on this 11-mile bike ride until I was attacked. There I was, minding my own business as I was resting on a nearby bench at a boat launch overlooking the channel. I decided that it was time to head home and proceeded to get onto my bike. I heard this hissing noise. I look down at my tires...nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. If I had paid attention, I would have noticed that this area was home to several geese nests. I happened to get too close. It’s one thing to be hissed at by a goose, but it’s a whole different situation to be chased by one. Being chased by a goose is not how I wanted to end my bike ride. With my heart pumping, and after a few cheers after out-riding the bundle of angst and feathers, I went home.
I was impressed with the City Commuter’s throttle and get-up-and-go. I’ve used the throttle in small situations (intersections, primarily). the ability to have something that allowed me to get out of a situation was a wonderful asset. When we first received our City Commuter bikes last year, I fell in love with the Merlot 26” step-thru frame. This year, I was able to have a teal City Commuter for a few weeks and was able to go on a few mini-adventures.
I found that what has drawn me to the City Commuter is that, for the price, you receive the whole package. The bike comes with a wide, comfortable saddle with a suspension seat post. This bike also comes with a headlight, a taillight, an adjustable handlebar. The City Commuter also includes pedal assist and throttle acceleration. I do not have to second-guess myself when I am on the City Commuter. I know that I have a bike that does well in a majority of situations. I hope I won’t have to deal with a goose again, but if I do, I hope I have the City Commuter available to get me out of there.
