Code Foils 1250 R | Built for Glide, Momentum, and Flow

Tucker's been on a lot of different foils at this point, so it takes something pretty special to get him excited. The Code 1250R High Modulus front wing is one such foil. Tucker has dubbed it the "Monster Glider Setup" when paired with the long fuselage and the 151R stabilizer, and it does indeed let you fly like a pelican for miles with almost no power, whether that's wind, wave, or pumping.

Design Features

The 1250R has a wide span of 1275mm (50.2in), a very high aspect ratio of 13.0, and is quite thin. As soon as you see it, you know it's a glider. It's got an anhedral curve and that signature Code Foils camber. It's stable, easy to pump, gives you plenty of lift on the low end, and of course it glides forever, giving you plenty of range.

Tucker likes to pair it with the 151R tail wing, which is also thin, very high aspect ratio, and has an anhedral curve. Like the front wing, it's efficient, stable, glides well, and pumpable. It also gives you just enough to push against to send you into your next turn.

Who's It For?

Tucker loves Code foils, and his go-to is normally the S series. It's a great all-around wing, and you just pick your size for the conditions and go ride. However, with its huge glide and speed range, the 1250R has really mixed things up for Tucker. If you want to ride in light wind but not work too hard, the 1250R is going to get the job done. If you're looking at knee-high to waist-high conditions, this foil can take it and glide you from one bump to the next without relying too much on your wing or having to pump your brains out. It just keeps connecting, keeps building energy, and keeps building speed to take you to the next section.

If you're looking for a light wind foil or you want to do downwind gliding sessions on small waves or rolling swell, this foil shines. You will have fun.

Tucker's also had it out in chest-high swell without any issues, but once you get into breaking waves, it's a bit much. It really is a big wing with a wide span, so while it'll give you the speed you need, it gets pretty locked in. It's best suited to light, small days where you just want to cruise around and connect bumps without needing to put in a lot of energy. Tucker can take this out with a wing in as little as 5 knots.

Tucker's Review

Tucker has ridden enough foils to know this was going to be a wing with a lot of glide, even on light days, and he knew the design and quality would be solid from his previous experience with Code products. But what surprised him was just how playful and fun it was, despite its high aspect and massive wingspan. He expected something where he'd just perch and go in a straight line with a direction change here and there, but it was actually quite agile and handled wing-outs with no trouble. He even managed some shreddy little turns on a shorter board.

You could liven it up even more with a shorter fuselage, but Tucker found that the combo of the long fuselage and 151 tail had great synergy for maximum glide efficiency and speed. He could size down his wing and still get great downwind sessions on light days. It was a lot of fun cruising and connecting bumps on a day when most would just be sitting on the beach praying for the wind to come up.

The 1250R has enough range that even when the wind did pick up and conditions improved, Tucker didn't feel the need to come in and swap it out for a smaller foil. He could still keep up with the faster-moving swells. So if you're looking for something to get you out in marginal conditions without getting fatigued, and then let you stay out even as the wind and waves pick up, this might be a good option for you.
