Brazilian Brothers' Reedin MasterModel Review
The Brazilian Brothers are back for the full-length review of the Reedin MasterModel. This is Reedin's first five-strut kite, and after spending several hours on it in Brazil over the past couple of weeks, the team is finally ready to give the final verdict and let you know whether you're actually going to catch a cold up there, or whether it's all marketing.
The Brainchild Bag and Kite Design
As longtime fans of the Brainchild bag, the Brazilian Brothers were happy to see that Reedin's version introduces a zipper on top — a small but very welcome addition. The kite itself looks fantastic in the air, with a turquoise and blue pattern that really stands out.
The Inflation System
The first critique of the Reedin MasterModel is actually the inflation system. Reedin uses a very interesting and exotic-looking inflation attachment that's not easy to find anywhere else. Thankfully, the kite ships with one, but if you ever lose it or forget your pump at home, you're unlikely to find a replacement in the usual hose attachments that come with most pumps. Keep that attachment close to your heart if you want to get this kite pumped up at your local beach.
Bar Pressure and Steering
Once the kite is pumped up, the first thing you'll notice is how beautiful it looks in the sky. Reedin has knocked it out of the park — the MasterModel is absolutely gorgeous.

After testing it across a wide range of conditions in Brazil, the Brazilian Brothers can confirm it has one of the lightest bar pressures on the market, with really light steering pressure to match. The best part is that the bar pressure stays nice and light even in overpowered conditions, which makes the MasterModel an amazing kite to feel comfortable on in nuclear winds.
High-V vs. Low-V Platforms
The Brazilian Brothers have been flying the MasterModel on a high-V platform, even though it's meant to be ridden on a low-V, they prefer high-V on most kites.
A high-V platform generally gives a lighter bar feel and makes the kite faster and more pivotal through the loop. On the MasterModel, the high-V actually makes the bar pressure so light that they've been attaching the back lines to the middle knot for the perfect ratio between bar feedback (knowing where the kite is) and really light bar pressure.
Speed and Responsiveness
The other thing you'll notice about the MasterModel in the sky is just how rapid it is. When the Brazilian Brothers first heard Reedin was coming out with a five-strut, high-aspect kite, they assumed it would be slow and sluggish — but boy, were they wrong. Once the MasterModel is in the air, every little input gets the kite moving, which is really impressive, especially for a kite with this much aspect ratio.
Jumping Performance
In terms of jumping, the Brazilian Brothers are shocked by the MasterModel. It has huge potential for jumping height and overall lift. Kevin Langeree wasn't kidding when he said you'd need to be careful not to catch a cold up there: this kite is tremendous for jumping.
The downside is that it takes a couple of sessions to get used to just how much lift it provides. The team actually bombed out quite a few times because the lift was so unexpected, but once you get used to it, it's amazing.

Looping and Progression
The looping was another big surprise. Again, when the Brazilian Brothers heard Reedin was coming out with a high-aspect, five-strut kite, they expected something like an Edge or XR — sluggish and slower through the loops. They were completely wrong. The MasterModel is very rapid and has really safe loops with very little yank, which makes it an amazing kite for kite loop progression. They were immediately throwing boogies and kite loops on it with ease. It's a kite that gives you confidence to go for maneuvers you're not always in the mood for.
Ease of Use
The MasterModel is a big air machine, but riders of all levels can enjoy its lift and jumping potential. It doesn't take a professional to get on this kite and jump really big: the sweet spot for jumping is generous. The loops are excellent, and the MasterModel might even be a great choice for your first looping kite because it's so easy. No yank through the loop, which is awesome.
Real Talk: Pros and Caveats
Overall, the Brazilian Brothers were very impressed with the MasterModel, both for its lift and its looping ability. That's exactly why it's getting the Brazilian Brother's certificate of approval. There are only two caveats worth emphasizing:
- Wind Range: This kite doesn't perform very well in the low end. It has very light bar pressure and not a lot of grunt, so you'll need a lot of wind to feel powered up and get the most out of it.
- Materials: The canopy materials are extremely light and extremely thin, and the Brazilian Brothers are curious to see how the kite will hold up over time in terms of longevity.
Overall, they are stoked on it. It's by far their favorite Reedin kite, so if you're wondering which kite to choose from Reedin's lineup, look no further — this is the one.
