2024 North Navigator Pro Bar | Smooth Swivel, Auto Untwist, and Ergo Grips
Dustin has been riding the new 2024 North Navigator Pro control bar, and he's super stoked on it. Is a control bar really something to get that excited about? What makes it so special?
Auto-Unswivel
The auto-unswivel feature is absolutely amazing. The ceramic bearings are like butter, and nothing's going to get caught up there. There isn't going to be any wear and tear on it.
Quick Release and Loop
The release is rock solid. It's got 20mm of travel before it releases, so you won't accidentally bump out of it. It uses a simple seatbelt-style click in and out. The loop is a bit smaller this year, and the safety finger is a little stiffer, so you won't be able to foul hook it, which is great.
You can swap the loop for other riding disciplines without tools. Options include a surf slider and freestyle loop for unhooking.
High V Split
North is introducing a high V split with this year's bar, which means it's going to be compatible with everything on the market as long as you have the right pigtails for it, which is amazing. You'll need only one bar for whatever you have in your quiver.
Lines
The Navigator Pro includes SK99 lines. They're stronger and thinner, so they'll have less drag and hopefully less wear and tear. Dustin is a big fan of them.
Grip
The grips have been updated to have the color actually molded into the grip itself. It's a softer EVA and feels natural in the hands, with or without neoprene gloves. The covering is internally stitched at the bottom, so it won't come unglued like some bars have.
The center piece is injection-molded stainless steel. Since it's not cast, this has reduced a lot of the wear and tear on the polyurethane tubing in the middle. Dustin talked to Hugh, the designer, and he said that you may see a little color change on it, but that won't affect its integrity. It feels rock solid.
Summary
Dustin has used the Navigator Pro on just about everything now, from kiteloops to foiling to surf, and has even taught people on it. The auto-unswivel is a convenience he'll never be able to go back from. Dustin keeps just one bar in his car now, and this is it. It's a home run by North and he loves it.
