Waydoo Scooter Kit | Learning to eFoil Has Never Been This Easy or Fun!
Eli had a chance to get out with the Waydoo Evo Scooter Kit, and he was amazed at what a good time he had on something that seems a bit like training wheels. It can be used that way, and it's great for that, but it's also so much more and makes your Evo into something really versatile.
What Is the Waydoo Scooter Kit?
The Scooter Kit is a detachable handle for your Waydoo Evo. While it's not compatible with the Flyer One, it does work with any Evo setup. It comes standard with the Waydoo Max Flyer Pod, which fits the 130L Max board. It also includes a hardware pack and a patch kit, and you can use the same tool that was included with your Evo. It seems like a pretty hefty setup, but what you gain in float and stability can be well worth the tradeoff in weight. Eli's 215 lbs and 6'3", and he felt incredibly stable on it.
How Does It Work?
The handlebar attaches to the built-in connection on the nose of your Evo board. The remote plugs into the top of the handlebar, and then you operate the trigger with a thumb paddle on the handle. The height of the handlebar can be adjusted not only for people of different heights, but also so that you can sit on the board and drive it around like a water go-kart, which was Eli's favorite way to use the handlebar and pod combo. At its maximum length, the handles will reach about waist-high on a 6'3" person.
As we mentioned, it does add some weight, so you'll want to use the 6000W motor with it. It'll give you more thrust and power to get you up and foiling. You'll also appreciate the extra lift of one of the larger wings. Eli found that the 1500 Voyager wing gave him more traction to get up on foil. The 1500 Glider also worked well but he found he could turn a little better with the Voyager.
Who's It For?
If you're a proficient eFoiler who wants a light setup, the Scooter Kit isn't going to bring anything to the table for you. However, if you're still learning, this is going to give you a huge boost of confidence and let you get used to being on foil while feeling much more stable. Imagine standing on a slackline or balance beam while having a bar to hold on to. Even kids can learn to eFoil with the assistance of the Scooter Kit.
It's also great for casual riders who want to cruise around and pay more attention to the scenery than to staying on their board. Some people use it to ferry themselves and their stuff out to their boat. The 130L board has a good amount of deck space, and the Scooter Kit makes it less likely you'll take a spill and dump your stuff.
What Did Eli Think?
Adding the Scooter Kit made riding a Waydoo a lot more fun for Eli. He loved cruising around on it like it was a go-kart. Even up on his feet, he didn't feel like he was going to fall in. The water in Michigan is still pretty chilly in the spring, and Eli was nice and toasty while his buddies without the scooter were in the water and were getting cold.
If you've got any questions about eFoiling and whether the Scooter Kit is right for you, feel free to reach out to the shop and ask for Eli. While he really enjoyed the Scooter Kit, he realizes it's not for everyone and can give you some honest input for your particular situation.
