2026 Reedin MasterModel Preview with Kevin Langeree

Jeff had a chance to catch up with Kevin Langeree at the Reedin tent at KoGL to chat about the brand new 2026 MasterModel big air kite. Damien had been wanting to design a 5-strut kite, but they were just too heavy to achieve the turning speed, lift, and hangtime he was looking for. Now, with the weight-reducing technologies developed by Brainchild, that vision has finally become a reality.

Who Is the MasterModel For?

Before you write this off as a high-performance kite that's just for the pros, we want to start by saying that this is a kite for any rider who likes to jump. Jumping is easy with the MasterModel, and it sets you down gently.

How easy? Send the kite, pull the bar, and check your Woo to see what your new height record is.

With that out of the way, yes, it is also a kite for competition-level performance. Reedin designs the kites they want to ride, and this is their big air machine.

What Are Jumps Like on the MasterModel?

This is a lifty kite, and it'll boost you up like an elevator. It's got great hangtime, and you'll be able to feel where the kite is the entire time as you come down like a feather, which is a great confidence-booster. And when you're feeling confident, you're willing to try new things.

Why Is the Collab with Brainchild Important?

Damien's design for a kite that gets maximum air while still being user-friendly required an open arc and high aspect ratio, and 5 struts were needed to support that shape. Traditional construction methods produced a kite that was heavy and didn't turn as fast as a 3-strut kite, making it more difficult to loop for the catch.

With Brainchild's Proweld technology, the weight of seams was significantly reduced while increasing their stiffness, allowing the kite to hold its shape better in gusts. Brainchild's digital printing also cut down on the canopy's weight (and made it look pretty darn cool, too). Suddenly, this 5-strut kite was much closer to a 3-strut on the scale.

Which Size Should I Add to My Quiver?

The MasterModel is available in 6 - 12m sizes. Of course, you'll want to use the size that matches your weight and the conditions you like to jump in, but Kevin prefers the 9m to boost as high as he can. He's around 80 kg/176 lbs and likes to get out in nice windy conditions around 30 knots.
