How To: Back-Roll Hand Drag
How to Back-Roll Hand Drag (From Alby Rondina)
Alby Rondina, from his YouTube Channel "Pro Kite Alby Rondina" has given the low-down on how to back-roll hand drag. This easy, yet fun move proves that old school can still be new school.

Rondina gives his seven steps on how to better back-roll hand drag (described below):
1. Know your best conditions - flat water (and using a larger kite) is better!

2. Know the back-roll transition (with and without the loop) before beginning your hand drag.

3. When performing the back-roll hand drag, make sure your traveling at a moderate speed with your kite higher in the air.

4. Rather than popping your board off the water, just gently send the board upwards and put your front hand into the water. Try to send your legs in the air as high and as straight as possible.

5. During the slow part of the trick, you'll want to keep sliding the kite to the other side of the wind window. Then, keep sliding with your front hand in the water.

6. When you start to slow down, loop the kite! This is probably the most important point that Rondina gives. When looping, make sure you have the bar close to you, pulled down, so you have a tighter loop. If you keep the bar farther away from your body, your loop will be slower and larger.

7. When you're finishing up your trick, cushion your landing and do your best to land downwind to gain control.
