2018 Cabrinha Contra Overview

2018 Cabrinha Contra Overview

Hey guys what’s going on today? It’s Nathan from MACkite and today we’re going to be discussing the new 2018 Cabrinha Contra. The Contra was originally designed as a lightwind kite. A few years ago Cabrinha decided to expand it into smaller sizes. Despite this, the Contra is still available all the way up to 19m. The Contra is known as an extremely lightwind kite, or a lightwind kite that can be used by someone a little heavier.

High Tenacity Dacron

There’s not much new for the Contra for 2018. That said, the new High Tenacity Dacron is included in the 2018 Contra’s design. What this allows the Contra to do is turn sharper, quicker and snappier. When you pull in the bar, the kite will turn quicker, respond, and return to it’s original shape much faster. What that means for the Contra, as a primarily lightwind kite that typically turns slowly, is it’s response time will be sped up. The Contra is already one of those kites that feels like it could be a performance freeride kite. You can loop the kite, even in the bigger sizes. This allows you to get out in light winds, yet still have some fun with your session.

Great Stability

The other thing we really like about the Contra is it’s stability. In light winds you want a kite that will go up in little to no wind, but will still be able to stay up in the sky. The Contra has always done a good job with that. It’s low-end is incredible, and it carries riders upwind easily. Even when those winds pick up, the Contra brings you back in comfortably, without feeling like you’re crazy overpowered.

The Contra is a kite that we’ve really enjoyed for 2018, and for many years in the past, and we think you guys will enjoy it as well. If you have any questions feel free to give us a shout. We’d love to help you out! Thanks again for watching, and we’ll talk to you soon.
