North Seek Pro (2026) Overview: What's Changed and Who's It For?
North made a notable update to the Seek lineup for 2026. Instead of one model covering the entire size range, the Seek is now split into two versions: the Seek and the Seek Pro. At first glance they look similar, but they serve slightly different purposes.
We spent some time going through the new boards with our North rep and getting a few sessions on them ourselves. The updates focus on lighter construction, improved takeoff efficiency, and giving riders clearer options depending on skill level and riding style.
The Big Change: Seek vs Seek Pro
The standard Seek covers the larger volume sizes, while the Seek Pro handles the smaller, performance-oriented boards.
- Seek (Standard Construction): 138L down to 98L
- Seek Pro (PVC Construction): 98L down to 58L
There’s a single size overlap at 98 liters, which gives riders the choice between the standard construction and the lighter Pro version.
The goal here is simple: keep the durability and stability that newer riders appreciate in the larger boards, while giving experienced riders a lighter and more performance-focused option in the smaller sizes.
Lighter Weight with the Seek Pro
One of the biggest updates is the new PVC wrap construction used in the Seek Pro boards.
This construction allowed North to remove roughly half a kilogram per board, which is noticeable when you're carrying the board, pumping onto foil, or trying to get it into the air for jumps.
At the same time, North wanted to keep the durability their boards are known for. Production boards need to survive real-world use, travel, and everyday abuse, so the goal wasn’t to chase the absolute lightest board possible. Instead, the focus was trimming weight while maintaining strength.
For riders pushing into smaller board sizes, that lighter feel makes a real difference.
Updated Shape: Slightly Longer and Narrower
Across the Seek lineup, North adjusted the board shapes slightly.
Compared to previous versions, each size is now about one to two inches longer and a bit narrower.
This change helps the board move through the water more efficiently during takeoff while still keeping the stability that makes the Seek easy to ride.
Many riders refer to boards in this category as “nugget” shapes. They’re compact, stable, and forgiving. With the 2026 update, the Seek moves slightly toward a more efficient outline without losing that approachable feel.
You get a board that still feels stable under your feet but releases from the water more easily.
Deck Design and Foot Positioning
One of the first things you notice on the deck is the large EVA deck pad that runs nearly rail to rail.
That gives you plenty of grip and room to move your stance around as you progress.
North also includes visual foot placement references built into the deck pad, which helps you quickly find your front foot position without constantly looking down.
There’s also a raised toe bar at the front foot position. Some riders love it, others prefer riding without it, but it works well as a reference point so you know exactly where your foot is when you're riding.
The deck itself has a slight concave shape, which lowers your center of gravity and improves board feel and connection to the foil.
Strap Options
North simplified the strap insert layout slightly this year.
Previous Seek models offered five different strap positions. The 2026 version now offers three insert positions, which helps reduce weight while still keeping the most commonly used setups.
You can still run:
- V front straps
- Inline front straps
- Inline rear strap
If you're learning, we generally suggest riding strapless at first. Once you start jumping or riding more aggressively, straps can be helpful.
Bottom Shape and Touchdown Recovery
On the underside of the board, the Seek keeps its familiar tri-panel hull design.
The nose features a slight concave shape that helps soften touchdowns and disperse water when the board reconnects with the surface.
The mid section transitions into a flatter surface with subtle chines along the rails.
This design helps the board:
- Recover smoothly from touchdowns
- Maintain stability when accelerating
- Release cleanly during takeoff
During our sessions, one thing that stood out was how the board moved through the water during takeoff. Even though it’s still a relatively compact board, it doesn’t feel like it's pushing a big wall of water in front of it. It releases cleanly and gets up on foil without feeling sticky.
North’s DropBox Track System
One feature North riders tend to appreciate right away is the DropBox foil track system.
Instead of having to line up bolts through tight tracks, the system allows you to drop your foil in from the top and slide it into position.
For anyone who has ever dropped track nuts inside a foil box while rigging up, this is a welcome addition.
It makes installation faster and helps keep your hardware attached to your foil rather than loose inside the board.
How the Seek Rides
We spent time riding the 5'1" Seek Pro (around 78L) in lighter wind conditions, which ended up being a great test for the board.
Coming from longer mid-length boards, we were curious how the Seek would feel in lighter wind.
Takeoffs felt efficient, especially starting from the knees. The board didn’t feel like it was pushing water or bogging down before getting onto foil.
Touchdowns were also smooth and predictable. If you come down off foil briefly, the hull shape helps the board recover without feeling abrupt.
It still feels stable underfoot, which is something riders appreciate as they move into smaller volumes.
Who the Seek Is For
The Seek continues to be one of the easiest boards to recommend for a wide range of riders.
For beginners, the larger sizes provide stability and confidence when learning to stand, balance, and get onto foil.
As riders progress, the smaller sizes start to feel more playful and performance-oriented.
With the addition of the Seek Pro, experienced riders now have access to a lighter board in those smaller sizes, which helps with jumping, freestyle riding, and overall responsiveness.
Where the Seek Fits in the North Board Lineup
North’s foil board range now covers several different riding styles.
- The Midi sits at the long, highly efficient end of the spectrum and prioritizes glide and early takeoff.
- The Seek sits on the compact end, offering a balanced mix of stability and maneuverability.
- The Swell fills the gap between the two and leans more toward wave riding.
Because of that, the Seek is often the easiest entry point into the North lineup. It works well for learning, progressing, and eventually sizing down as your riding improves.
A Nice Bonus: Board Bags with Pro Models
Another update for 2026 is that all North Pro boards now include a board bag from the factory.
This applies to:
- Seek Pro
- Midi Pro
- Swell Pro
It’s a small change that adds a lot of value. Not only does it protect the board during travel, but it also reduces packaging waste during shipping.
For riders who travel or transport their gear frequently, having a bag included is a welcome addition.
TLDR;
The Seek has always been a reliable, well-rounded wing foil board, and the 2026 updates refine that concept rather than reinvent it.
Splitting the lineup into Seek and Seek Pro gives riders clearer choices depending on their priorities.
If you’re looking for stability and durability while learning or progressing, the standard Seek remains a great option.
If you’re riding smaller boards, jumping more, or simply want a lighter feel under your feet, the Seek Pro is a solid upgrade.
Either way, the Seek remains one of the most approachable boards in North’s lineup while still leaving plenty of room to grow as your riding evolves.
