2016 North Mono Kiteboarding Kite

New for 2016, North Kiteboarding is debuting the Mono, a one strut kite that finds itself in the company of the Airush Lithium One and Liquid Force Solo. Able to be flown on both a 4-line and 5-line control bar, you can expect a light-weight, quick turning kite that’s perfectly suited for light to medium winds. With one strut, expect some canopy flutter. This will make the kite slightly more difficult to handle in heavy winds that require consistent depowering. This trade-off is well worth it, though, the light one strut design giving the Mono incredible low-end power, great drifting ability, and a lively, springy feel.

“I have been on the Mono over the winter on my warmer weather locations and during my vacation down in Baja. It’s a sweet kite. Although I was only on the 9m, it has the power of a 12m Evo at least. What I like –

Super nice amount of low-end power with quick responsive steering.

Good boost and hang time as well. Very easy relaunch. Fly's in light wind and is super stable for any skill level of any rider.

Drifts really well in the waves. I was surprised by that. Felt as good as a Neo but just lacked a little performance when I wanted to sheet out and steer.

If you are in the perfect wind range with this kite it rocks. The only negative I found was when I was over-powered in about 25 mph and had to keep the bar out the kite started to flutter. This is due to the one strut shape just like the Solo or Uno. But if you have the bar in about 50% or more the kites rock solid.

I had a lot of different folk jump on it to test it out and the reviews were awesome. Everyone really enjoyed riding it. Personally, I give this kite a solid 9.0 all round. You all will enjoy the 12m with your lighter wind days."
