Mystic Majestic X Hardshell Harness Review

Mystic Majestic X Hardshell Harness Review

The Brazilian Brothers are back to bring you a special review of the Majestic X harness by Mystic. After testing the Majestic X for several months in Brazil, they have put this hardshell through its paces to see how it performs in real-world conditions.

Hardshell Stability and Structure

The Majestic X is a hardshell harness featuring a carbon composite construction. The Brazilian Brothers prefer the hardshell design because it allows the harness to mold effectively to your back. This provides excellent stability and structure, which is especially important when you are riding in very strong wind conditions like they often have.

Padding and Comfort

Even though this is a very stiff harness, it features a significant amount of padding on the interior, ensuring that the harness remains comfortable whether you are wearing a full wetsuit or just boardshorts. The Brothers found that the Majestic X is so comfortable and ergonomic around the waist that they often forget they are even wearing it during a session.

The Stealth Spreader Bar: Convenience and Safety

The Majestic X is designed to be very easy to get in and out of, thanks to the Stealth spreader bar. The Brazilian Brothers consider the Stealth to be one of the best spreader bars on the market because it allows you to secure or remove your harness in a matter of seconds.

The Stealth spreader bar also offers a major benefit in terms of safety. In the event that your kite's quick release fails and you find yourself stuck to the kite, the design of the spreader bar allows you to pop yourself out of the harness without a problem.

Brazilian Brothers Unfiltered

To provide an honest look at the Majestic X, the brothers broke down the harness into where it shines and where it could improve.

Where It Shines

  • Stiffness and Stability: The hardshell provides rock-solid stability under load. For riders serious about their kitesurfing who want to hold a strong edge in high winds, this is one of the best options on the market.
  • Superior Comfort: The interior padding is excellent for prolonged use. The brothers compared it to the Mystic Stealth harness. While the Stealth is light, its stiffness can sometimes cause hip rashes when riding without a wetsuit. The padding on the Majestic X prevents this, making it ideal for warm-water destinations like Brazil.
  • Ease of Use: The ergonomics make it incredibly simple to put on and take off, which they feel is an absolute necessity.

Where It Should Improve

  • Water-Repellent Properties: Unlike the Stealth harness, which is very light and absorbs almost no water, the Majestic X does take up water when it gets wet. This makes the harness slightly heavier after a session and can be a challenge for travelers who need to pack their gear up immediately after riding.
  • Rear Handle/Rope: The harness does not come with a rope handle on the back. The Brazilian Brothers see the rope as a safety feature that should be included on every harness. It is very useful for holding riders during a kite launch or for performing rescues on the water.

There is no grab handle on the back of the harness.

The Verdict

Overall, the Brazilian Brothers are stoked on the Mystic Majestic X. Out of the entire Mystic lineup, this has become their favorite harness. They highly recommend it for any rider looking for a piece of equipment that is safe, ergonomic, and supportive while remaining very comfortable for long sessions.
