The Brazilian Brothers Review the Harlem Thrive
The Brazilian Brothers have been putting the Harlem Thrive through its paces, and no doubt about it, this kite is anything but ordinary. Built in collaboration with Brainchild, the Thrive brings some innovative design and construction concepts to the kiteboarding world. Clearly, it's pushing the boundaries of performance and style.
Let's break down the performance features, from jumping and looping ability to control and functionality.
Harlem Thrive Construction Features
The first noticeable thing about the Thrive is its Pro Weld technology. The panels of the leading edge are fused with an ultrasonic welding technique. This not only decreases the leading edge diameter, it substantially decreases the weight. So light, in fact, that it's one of the lightest kites on the market today! Add in Brainchild's unique digital printing techniques and you have a vibrant, stand-out kite with its own flair.

Bar Pressure & Control
The light bar pressure is a huge plus, especially if you're the type of rider who values long sessions. NO matter the condition, the Thrive seems to remain comfortable and easy on the arms. The Brothers pointed out that it's the kind of kite you can ride on for hours without fighting fatigue. No more tennis elbow!
As they put it, "No matter how much wind...the bar pressure remains nice and light, which is amazing."
Another really special aspect of the Thrive is its deep depower range. When you can sheet out and stop on a dime, you're able to stay in control. Even in overpowered conditions, you're able to dump a lot more power into the kite to get a nice edge and excellent vertical take-off.
Jumping Ability
Here's where things get a bit...tricky. The Thrive is an incredibly fast kite, which fits the bill perfectly for advanced riders with solid jumping techniques. You'll be able to unlock big boosts and have explosive vertical lift. But, for intermediate riders, you might struggle to find the sweet spot. The kite is so fast and reactive that you need to have your technique dialed in. Keep in mind that the more you put into perfecting your take-off, the bigger your reward.

Looping Ability
Looping is where the Thrive truly shines. The Brazilian Brothers tested an 8m, and it was a double-looping machine. Pros like Lorenzo Casati have been hammering loops on smaller sizes, but the Brothers also believe the 9m and 10m sizes would still have that surprising speed and looping ability.
The Thrive's speed means loops are high, controlled, and catch reliably. You can also change the looping characteristics. Pulling hard gives you a smooth, high catch whereas sheeting out slightly offers a more explosive kick behind the loop.

Ease of Use
Let's be frank: the Thrive is not a kite for beginners. Because of its reactivity and speed, small steering mistakes are amplified. Precision is required and an advanced skillset. Advanced riders who thrive on performance and progression will be blown away. Intermediates may find it too twitchy, but as your skills catch up, it is a well-worth it kite.
The Harlem Thrive is a glimpse of kiteboarding's future. With its lightweight construction, bold designs, and performance rewards strong technique. While it's not the most forgiving kite in the world, it pays off in looping ability.
