F-One Strike CWC 9m Wing | Light Wind Tested!
Tucker meets up with Billy from Manera and F-One at KoGL to chat about the new 9m Strike CWC. Wait... a 9m wing? Why not!
Tucker: This is the behemoth, the big lady, of the range.
Billy: Yes, we have here the 9m CWC.
Tucker: 9 meters of goodness... that is a lot of wing!
Billy: We've brought it to the right place to test the low end, and we've actually been quite successful here.
Tucker: It's pretty sick. It doesn't look like a 9m.
Billy: It definitely has the low end power, but our Compact Wing Concept keeps it nice and tight. It's the three-strut design previously offered in 6/7/8m and quite sought after for light wind conditions, and now we've newly added a 9m.
Tucker: I think it's a good call because the new ones have so much more upper end range. I can do an 8m, but why not have more low end if you still have a decent top end? You might as well go for broke.
Billy: Totally. You can split it up with the 5.5/7/9m to cover your bases and make it even more enjoyable and fun. The wind's been quite shifty and light this week, so we've really been able to test what's possible with this thing, and it works great.
Tucker: It's so easy with so much sail. It just lifts you onto foil.
Billy: Right. It's still quite maneuverable. The tacks and jibes are a little more to manage, but still quite easy. The wing is very intuitive and comfortable and definitely has plenty of low end, which is impressive. It's what's needed to get through the puffs and have some fun out here in these conditions.
Tucker: I know there are some big boys that are going to be fighting over this. For anybody over 200lbs, this is the ticket to get out and ride.
Billy: We're really excited to add a 9m to the collection. It's going to be popular for you here. This is the first one we've had in the U.S., so we haven't received any for demo yet, but I'm sure you'll have one in no time and we'll get some reviews on the water.
Tucker: Absolutely. It looks fantastic and I can't say enough good about the other sizes--the 6, 7 and 8m--so I'm really excited to have the 9m to see how low we can push it. You were out yesterday in 4-knot, offshore, garbage wind, making it happen.
Billy: Yeah, paired with our downwind boards and some larger foils, it's actually been a great time.
