Ensis "Spin" and "Score" Wing Overview
Welcome back to MACkite Wing Wednesdays. Today we're going to talk about a brand that we offer but sometimes don't talk that much about... sorry, Ensis. But today we're going to talk about you.
What is Ensis?
Ensis wings: these are awesome. You might see them in the hands of Balz Muller, one of the best freestyle riders in the world right now. He's a really impressive dude doing all kinds of things no one even imagined before. He is closely affiliated with the brand and helped with the design, so you can definitely expect some high-end freestyle performance. They've also got some other wings out there that might be ideal for the average Joe or somebody that's more into wave riding, so we're going to talk about that here today with two Ensis models: the Spin and the Score.
Ensis Score Wing
The Score is a freeride wave wing. That one's got a bit more grunt, is a little bit more stable in your hand when you flag out, and has that pull-and-go kind of performance. It's really great for anybody getting into the sport who wants to freeride in moderately-powered conditions, and especially in waves. It's a really excellent wing for that.
Ensis Spin Wing
The Spin is very similar in the handles, the build and everything else, but in terms of the design focus, it is much more freestyle/freeride. The Spin is more compact and you have to work for the power a little bit more, but it is a quick wing. It has great speed and really generates a lot of lift based on that board speed and apparent wind. It's a wing you want to ride a bit more powered, and it is going to require a little more wind for a beginner to ride, but it is the kind of wing you want for freestyle riding in that it's more compact. It's a little cleaner into the wind for doing those 360s and backflips and whatnot, and offers that kind of performance.
Summary
If you're a new rider or a wave rider looking for an Ensis wing, grab a Score. If you're a freestyle rider or an intermediate rider looking for a wing that's a bit more compact and speedy, go with the Spin.
This has been Tucker with MACkite, and we'll see you next time.
