2026 Cabrinha Unify Control Bar Review

2026 Cabrinha Unify Control Bar Review

The Brazilian Brothers are in windy Brazil to provide a thorough review of the brand-new 2026 Cabrinha Unify Control Bar. Rubens feels that Cabrinha has had some hiccups with control systems in the past, to the point where the Brothers felt it was the one part of their repertoire that was not great. This 2026 upgrade is a complete redesign of the bar, including the grip, lines, and quick release, so it'll be interesting to see what improvements have been made.

Majestik Quick Release and Safety

The Unify system features the Majestik quick release. This is the same quick release used by brands like Harlem, Reedin, and Elevate, and it is quickly becoming an industry standard. Rubens feels safe using this system even in strong wind conditions exceeding 30 knots. A standout feature of the Majestik is the seat belt click-in system, which provides both safety and convenience when resetting.

Grip and Comfort

Cabrinha has redesigned the grip on the Unify bar, making it thinner than previous versions. The Brothers found the grip to be comfortable and not slippery, allowing for sessions that last for hours without fatigue. The refined diameter allows you to get your hands around the bar with a secure hold.

Automatic Line Untwisting

The Unify control system includes an automatic untwist system. After performing a loop or a rotation, you do not have to manually rotate your center lines; the bar handles the untwisting for you. Once you get used to this feature, it is difficult to go back to a bar that requires manual rotation after every maneuver.

Line Configuration and Compatibility

While the bar comes stock in a Low-V configuration, Cabrinha includes a small ring with the bar that allows you to convert it into a High-V bar. This easy process makes the Unify bar compatible with almost any kite on the market, whether it requires a Low-V or High-V setup.

Sizing and Line Lengths

The Unify control system is available in two bar lengths:

  • 48 cm
  • 53 cm

The bar comes equipped with 22-meter lines plus 2-meter extensions, totaling 24 meters. The Brazilian Brothers recommend the 48 cm bar for kites that are 10 meters and smaller, while the 53 cm bar is best for kites 10 meters and larger. If you have to choose just one size, they suggest the 53 cm bar because it can be used across a wider range of kite sizes.

The Unfiltered Verdict

The Brazilian Brothers conclude with their "Unfiltered" verdict, highlighting exactly where the bar shines and where it could improve.

Where It Shines

  • The Quick Release: The Majestik system is trustworthy, safe, and features a convenient seat belt click-in.
  • Automatic Untwist: It works well and eliminates the need to manually unwind center lines after loops.
  • Compatibility: The ability to switch between High-V and Low-V makes it a versatile tool for any kite in your quiver.

Where It Should Improve

  • No Backline Adjustments: Older Cabrinha bars featured three knots on the outside for line tuning. The Unify bar lacks this ability to modulate backline length. If your backlines begin to shrink, you will have to either add pigtails or purchase new lines.
  • Inner Grip Peeling: The Brothers noticed some peeling action occurring on the inner grip near the center of the bar. Sure, you can always fix it with superglue, but they hope Cabrinha addresses this in future generations.

Rubens shows where the grip has started to peel off the bar.

Overall, the Brazilian Brothers are stoked on the Unify control system. They believe it is a much better system than Cabrinha has offered in the past and they fully trust it for riding in all conditions.
