2024 North Code Zero | On-Water Review
The Code Zero is back again with a little bit of a redesign for 2024, and it's actually quite nice. It feels fairly similar to the Slingshot UFO, but with a single strut.
How Does the 2024 Code Zero Fly?
It's a bit lower aspect shape compared to the 2023. That makes it a little sharper and quicker in the turning radius.
I also feel like it drifts quite a bit better. They definitely made it more of a dedicated foil shape this year. Last year's worked pretty well as a foil/surf crossover. I haven't been able to get this one out in the waves yet, but I'm curious to see how it compares to last year's model. So far so good, though. I'm really liking it.

I'll give the Code Zero a little drift test and see how it does... Actually, that's not too bad for running straight at the thing. It held up there pretty well with just a little stalling, but nothing unmanageable to where I felt like it was going to drop out of the air. I was running straight at it, so I don't see any issue there with that. I'm actually quite pleased with how well it drifted.
Who Is It For?
If you're in the market for a light wind foil kite but don't necessarily want to go the full strutless route like the UFO, the Code Zero is another good option in the category. These kites feel very similar to me. The V2 definitely brought it a bit closer to the UFO, which is one of my favorite foil kites. The nice thing about the Code Zero is that it is a single strut, and having the one extra strut definitely gives you a bit of peace of mind for those water relaunches.

In fact, I'll go ahead and crash it to see how I do with the relaunch... It's not too bad.
Color Options
Let's talk about the colors. This one's a nice blue, and I'm quite a fan of it. It's a good-looking kite this year. I also like the white. My only gripe with it is you can get it dirty, depending what your beach is like. We're pretty blessed here in Michigan with some nice, white sugar sand beaches, but I know that at some spots people have a little dirtier conditions where the launching and landing could stain in the canopy, so it's nice to have a little bit darker colorway this year to hide that a little bit if you are in that situation.
Summary
I'm liking it. It's probably blowing about 15 here and I'm on the 8 meter. It's got plenty of power. I'm on a 700 sm2 Slingshot Phantasm, so it's good riding conditions. It's a lot of fun. Two thumbs up from me for the Code Zero 2024. Check it out at your local beach.
