Description

*Custom Fitted Board Bag Is Included*

When we started designing our AXIS dedicated Foil Drive boards with Dom and Jamie (Foil Drive specialists and AXIS Foils Global Ambassadors), we knew that the outcome would be spectacular. Dominic Hoskyns and Jamie Wise from Foil Drive, together with Adrian Roper from AXIS have indeed created the perfect Foil Drive board, in 3 unique sizes, addressing all levels, conditions and styles or riding.

The AXIS Foil Drive boards are based on a longer and narrower shape, with a very flat section in the rocker to allow the Foil Drive Gen2 to fit nicely. They run with less drag than a shorter wider board and make it very easy to get up on foil. They have been extensively tested to have a solid signal through the board, so no cutouts between the Foil Drive remote control and controller.

We wanted the AXIS Foil Drive boards to be full carbon, similar to the rest of the AXIS Foilboards. So the contruction is Carbon top and bottom with a PVC sandwich on both sides. This layup makes for a stiff board that gives a direct connection to the foil, while it’s still lightweight and strong. To maximize compatibility with all foil models and riding styles, we built with long (32cm / 12.6") mast tracks.

Finally, we created a custom fit bag that will hug the AXIS Foil Drive boards (Sold Separately), but also has extra depth that will allow to keep AXIS Foil Drive board connected to the Foil Drive system, and still have the board nicely protected.

Sizes available:

  • 5’0” x 19.0”, 50 litres
  • 5’4” x 19.5”, 60 litres
  • 5’8” x 20.0”, 70 litres

While we designed the AXIS Foil Drive boards with Foil Drive Gen2 in mind, these boards will also work great as prone boards, and prone downwind boards, for the more advanced prone riders who have added downwind into their regular foiling routine.

    Axis FD Board

Posted by Hazem A. on 19th Jul 2024

I ordered the Axis FD board 50L after I watched Dom's video explaining the design features. When I got the board I was very impressed. It really exceeded my expectations. The planing hull does work. I loved the board and wanted to use it for winging, however the 50L was too small for my weight (about 80 Kg). I decided that I need the bigger board so I ordered the 70L. I was worried because this size is smaller than the board I use to ride, which is the Starboard 5'8, 24", 88L. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to get on the foil for a sinker board. Again the flat hull gives it more floatation than the actual displacement. It was easy to ride and very nimble under the foot. You might think that the downside of a flat hull is the hard touchdown but I didn't find that to be the case. I highly recommend this board. If there is one thing I would critique is the lack of strap inserts.

Axis 60 liter Foil Drive Board

Posted by Marc on 18th Jul 2024

I have been riding this board for 6 weeks now and it is a game changer. I am 6'3" and 182lbs and using a Lift 32" mast with 150HAX from wing and 26 carve tail. I was riding a Cabrinha Code 4'8" 58L Wing board prior to this. With the Code board, I would need boost for about 6 seconds to get going. With the Axis board, I never use Boost anymore. I am getting going with about 80% throttle in the flats and even less power with a wave assist. The board is simply a torpedo and incredibly efficient on getting up to speed. Once up and riding, the narrow profile and forward stance make it feel like a lot smaller board. Great turning and control in swell and waves. Still a 5 star rating with these negatives: - Back of pad started to peel up after a few uses due to going from prone to knees and knees sliding on the pad. Some glue and gorilla tape fixes that. - Mast track is smaller than shown in most photos. Seems like Axis changed the track for the production run so it is 12.6" and not the first advertised 16" track. No issues for my setup. - There is a little rocker in front of the mast track so you will need a couple of pads on your Max nose cone to close the gap. I would have thought the board would have been completely flat in this area given it is a Foil Drive board.
