Introducing Cabrina's 2023 H Series MK2 Hydrofoil Range | A Comprehensive Overview
In a recent product introduction video, Brendan Healy and Daniel Ware from Cabrina presented their Zero Three (03) collection for 2023, highlighting their new High Aspect Hydrofoil range. Their presentation showcased the range's substantial improvements, design modifications, and exciting new foil accessories. This article will offer a detailed exploration of the conversation, shedding light on the innovative features and benefits of the newly unveiled collection.
Cabrina's High Aspect Hydrofoil: Design Improvements
The 2023 High Aspect Hydrofoil range by Cabrina exhibits an overall design refinement, maintaining its high aspect structure, which offers superior efficiency. The high-aspect design provides enhanced glide performance as the foil cuts through the water, offering excellent pumping capability.
A significant improvement from previous years is the 'tip breaching' functionality. Earlier, tip reaching could be disastrous, causing the rider to fall. The new design has effectively tackled this issue, making the foils much more user-friendly.
Cabrina has incorporated additional anhedral into the foils, particularly at the wingtips. This allows the foil to offer a more agile, carvy ride and makes tip reaching less catastrophic.
An Array of Sizes to Suit All Foiling Disciplines
The new High Aspect series, the MK2, is available in five different sizes: 550, 700, 850, 1050, and 1300. These sizes are intended to cater to various foiling disciplines, offering options for every type of rider.
The 550, the smallest of the range, is especially effective for kite foiling, offering impressive stability and speed. The 700 size, favored by many riders, proves excellent for kite foiling and winging, particularly in decent-sized waves.
The 850 is a versatile all-rounder, suitable for most wind range conditions and intermediate riders. The 1050 and 1300 sizes prioritize glide and offer a wide wingspan, making them perfect for lighter wind wing days, smaller surf foiling, downwind gliding, and pumping.
These new high-aspect foils provide a ton of lift relative to their size, proving to be super-efficient and easier to use than one might assume based on their dimensions.
A Sneak Peek into Cabrina's New Carbon Mast
Beyond the foils themselves, Cabrina is introducing a new carbon mast range, available in sizes 74, 84, and 94. These new masts aim to stiffen up the existing mast, offering excellent torsional stiffness and being significantly lighter than most competitors' high-end masts.
The masts are bladder molded, which allows the fibers to align optimally for maximum torsional stiffness. The hollow nature of these masts means they have less thickness, resulting in a super-efficient airfoil through the water, minimizing ventilation issues no matter the intensity of the ride.
Cabrina has introduced a side bolt going through the fuselage into the mast and out the other side of the fuselage, enhancing the overall system's stiffness.
Conclusion
With their 2023 High Aspect Hydrofoil range, Cabrina is undoubtedly pushing the boundaries of performance, bringing foiling to a new level of speed, efficiency, and maneuverability. Whether you're an experienced foiler or a novice, this new range offers an exciting set of options to enhance your experience on the water.
