3 Wing Foil Accessories We Think You’ll Be Stoked About in 2023

3 Wing Foil Accessories We Think You’ll Be Stoked About in 2023

Ryan from MACkite here, and today I'm talking about my top three wing foil accessories.

1. Board Bag

The first one is a board bag. I think a board bag is often overlooked by a lot of people. It's probably by far the easiest way to keep your board in good shape. It allows you to prevent a lot of dings and damage to your board that would otherwise be happening from putting it in your vehicle, taking it out of your vehicle, and setting it down in the sand.

One thing that takes these wing foil specific bags to the next level of preventing damage to your board is the slot in the back. When you're looking at wing foil bags, make sure to look for one that has that. This allows you to keep your foil on your board. This is huge for transporting your board. You can lay the bag on the ground, assemble your foil, close the bag back up, and use the shoulder strap to carry your board and foil down to the beach. That slot is a big saver with the board bag. It allows you to make sure that you're keeping your board in really good shape, and will help prevent you from dinging it and potentially missing a session out there on the water because you damaged your board to the point where you're hitting the core and you've got to go repair it.

2. Sand Anchor

We carry the PKS sand anchors, but any sand anchor will work. The sand anchor allows you to hold down your wing in any location without having to worry about it blowing away. I know that you can connect your wing to your pump when you're pumping up, which is good and I still recommend that. However, a lot of people like to connect their leash for their wing onto their foil, and that does work. The difficulty with that is when you go to put that leash onto your wrist. Most leashes will not allow you to keep the leash connected to the foil while you're strapping it onto your wrist, so then sometimes you have a leash that's out there blowing in the wind, or you're trying to hold it down with your foot. A sandbag alleviates that issue and allows your wing to stay in one spot. It gives you plenty of slack on the wrist leash to attach that to your wrist and not have any issues there. It also allows you to add another wing and manage two wings on the beach very easily by stacking them and holding them down with the sand anchor.

3. Waist Harness

One of my favorite accessories is the waist harness. The waist harness allows you to hook into your wing. You use a waist harness in conjunction with a harness line. The harness line connects to your wing near the boom or the center strut and hangs off of your wing. The hook on your harness then hooks into that harness line, and it allows you to transfer a lot of that power, energy and pull from the wing into your harness and your waist. That alleviates a lot of tension off of your hands, wrists and arms, and this allows you to go out and ride for a lot longer. That 30-40 minute session where you're getting burnt out can easily turn into an hour and a half or even two hours by utilizing a harness line.
