What KT has to say:
The Solus was designed for fun but built to win. Created and designed by Kane de Wilde and proven in races worldwide, including the Koa Kai Championship, the foil began as an alternative to extreme high aspect race wings. Instead of chasing maximum aspect ratio and span at the expense of control, the goal was to build a foil that goes fast, accelerates effortlessly, and stays fun and manageable in everyday conditions, open ocean runs, and variable wind or swell. All Solus sizes share a consistent 14 aspect ratio geometry, striking a balance between glide and control while keeping spans manageable and surf friendly. Paired with a highly refined foil section, the Solus runs significantly faster and smaller than its surface area suggests without ever feeling too small or difficult to keep on foil.
Features:
- Geometry - All Solus sizes share a 14 Aspect Ratio platform. Its multisection design blends a thicker, reflexed center section with thinner, highercamber tips, delivering a dialedin mix of stability, efficiency, and razorsharp handling. On the water, it feels precise, reactive, and ready to accelerate the moment you load it.
- Performance - Solus rewards efficient, committed riding. It turns clean input into instant forward drive, holds speed with calm precision, and stays lockedin across everything from glassy bay runs to stacked openocean swell. Stable, fast, and predictable under pressure, it gives you the confidence to push harder and stay on the gas longer.
- Efficiency - Efficiency is the core of Solus. Reduced pitch tension, optimized section design, and a refined planform let it hold speed with noticeably less effort. On the water, that efficiency feels smooth with every pump, every clean line, every subtle pressure shift turns directly into forward drive. It stays fast, steady, and composed in downwind, winging, and Foil Assist sessions where momentum is everything, always ready to accelerate the moment you load it.
Feeling:
The Solus feels slippery, fast, and highly efficient without ever becoming pitchy or tracky at any speed. Acceleration and drive are immediate when pumping, and the foil stays composed as the pace builds. It rides lighter and quicker than its area suggests, with impressive pitch stability and a smooth, predictable response that encourages longer runs and higher average speeds.
Speed:
Solus accelerates quickly and carries speed with minimal effort. Its refined section and efficient platform are built for high average speeds not just brief topend bursts so it stays fast through every line, pump, and transition. It runs noticeably quicker than comparable foils and remains calm, composed, and predictable as the pace builds, giving you the confidence to push harder without ever feeling on edge.
Shape & Outline:
Solus uses a refined, moderately highaspect outline with controlled span and a smooth taper into the tips. Paired with its reflexed profile, the platform delivers insane glide and rocksolid stability while staying responsive and predictable through turns and transitions. On foil, it feels clean, balanced, and ready to follow every line you draw.
Agility:
Solus is unusually agile for its efficiency class. It rolls smoothly from rail to rail and responds cleanly to pressure without ever feeling twitchy or nervous. The thinner tips and refined taper let it carve with confidence, no excess drag, no surprise pitch changes, just a fast, composed, connected feel that invites you to draw tighter lines and push harder through every turn.
Construction:
Built with Ultra High Modulus Carbon, Solus stays rigid and precise under load while keeping weight to a minimum. The construction locks in its refined section geometry, giving you consistent, highprecision performance every session, crisp feedback, clean acceleration, and a rocksolid feel when you’re pushing hard.
