The introduction of the Hybrid Frame and HTD Lite materials has increased not only the range of one of the most adaptable kites in the industry, but also, it’s performance. Through the lighter frame and strategically placed materials, the kite is now quicker to respond to rider input allowing for not only increased maneuverability in lighter winds, but also control and responsiveness in higher winds.

The new direct bridle with its low drag materials also help move this kite into an all new realm of performance.

Technology:

• HTD HYBRID FRAME: The Frame is the basis on which a kite is built. Utilizing a fusion of the two HTD materials as well as a reduced weight throughout the trailing edge, the Hybrid Frame provides the response and durability needed to take your kiting to an all-new level.
• SPRINT 3.0: The new Sprint 3.0 inflation system increases air flow from leading edge to the strut. The new straight and angled valves allow for no kinking of the inflation tube. It's secure fit design also allows for easy maintenance.
• BULLET PROOF BUMPERS: These new Durable TPU bumpers are strong, lightweight and durable. They crossover protecting the canopy to LE sewing. A new manufacturing process helps with abrasion when the kite is resting on a hard surface.

Coming into its 18th year on the market, the 2022 Switchblade arrives with some stellar performance upgrades. With the all new ceramic pulleys and a redesigned and rebalanced bridle system, the Switchblade has been updated to have the option for a faster turning speed and to lighten up the overall feel of the kite, making it not so grunty. This supercharged 5 strut is going to boost even higher because of the faster turning speed and add more control on the landings. The Switchblade paired with any of Cabrinha's Overdrive control bars make for a match made in heaven.

Kiteboard Options

< Liquid Force PKG

The base model in our packages is the PKG, or package, board. It's a basic compression-mold twintip by Liquid Force. While it's a bit heavy and doesn't have a lot of flex, it's a great board to get you up and riding at a low cost. It's a free option in our packages, so if you're looking for a budget-friendly way to get out on the water, this might be the board for you.

It's a fine board for beginners who are learning to kiteboard. It has an offset single concave on the bottom, which gives you a little more grip while riding. However, you will likely progress out of it by your second year, which is why we have a board upgrade option in our packages.

The longest-running board model in kiteboarding history – the Switch is the ultimate refined freeride machine. Designed for all-around fun riding, combining ease of use with forgiving and friendly handling, the Switch matches the needs of progressing kiters and those looking for a comfortable ride. With the new kiter in mind, the progressive single concave provides excellent comfort for a smooth and lively riding experience. Thin rails ensure a clean water release and offer sensationally low drag and easy upwind tracking.

PKG vs. Switch Weight (board only)

Weight can make a difference in upwind drive, jumping, and comfort on the water. You want to get the most time out of your sessions, and the less weight you have on your feet, the less quickly you will get fatigued. A lighter board is easier to maneuver as well. PKG 136cm - 7.5 lbs. 146cm - 9.1 lbs. Switch 135cm - 5.9 lbs. 145cm - 6.6 lbs.

Summary

Unless budget is a serious consideration, the Switch will likely be a worthwhile upgrade. You'll get a lot more use out of the Switch board because you won't outgrow it for a while, if ever, and once you do progress out of it, you'll be ready to move straight into a specialized board. You'll progress out of the PKG fast enough that you won't yet be ready for an advanced board and will still need to get an intermediate board like the Switch. A Waist/Seat harness combination is an affordable, supportive option for beginning kiteboarders. The seat portion of the harness is removable, making this option valuable and long-lasting. Enjoy moderate support from the soft neoprene interior, anatomical backplate, and covered side parts. Included is the Bananabar spreader.

The Mystic Block Vest is designed to integrate comfortably with your harness to provide buoyancy and impact protection without inhibiting range of motion or harness function.
