BIG AIR / FREERIDE

A kite that lets you loop confidently, launches with explosive lift, and has more forgiveness in landings? The North Orbit has been redesigned for 2026 with newly unlocked features that make this possibly its best iteration yet.

This year, North slimmed down the leading edge with new N-MAX2 material, giving the Orbit a lighter, faster-flying frame that reacts instantly. The updated five-point bridle keeps the kite stable and responsive, while the higher aspect ratio releases more efficiency and a smoother flight. Even in high winds, the frame holds steady.

If you're chasing progression and looking to focus on big boosts and loops, the 2026 Orbit is a solid go-to option.

Brazilian Brothers Test the 2026 Orbit

The Brazilian Brothers call it the most stable, most confidence-inspiring Oribt to date. The 2026 Orbit is a rider and progression-friendly kite. Take the tech of the Orbit Pro and blend it into the classic model, and you've got an efficient kite that hangs longer, lifts harder, and stays more stable than its predecessors.

The Brothers put it through weeks of early testing, looping and crashing in Brazil, and they couldn't front-stall it once. With light bar pressure and excellent depower, it feels safe and smooth even when you're riding fully overpowered. To us, that means you can push loops with confidence, knowing the Orbit will catch you on the way down.

What North has to say:

Our iconic premier 5-strut kite delivers user-friendly performance with a big wind range, effortless steering and upwind drive. Completely redesigned for 2026, the new Orbit flies smoother, jumps higher and gives riders more control in big air maneuvers. It is your ultimate kite for loop progression, with more precise, responsive steering and increased loft and hangtime. The pro-technology N-Max2 airframe material has enabled us to create a slimmer, lighter leading edge (LE) for improved efficiency. A new five-point precision bridle supports this thinner LE, while a higher aspect ratio (from 4.3 to 5.2) and a more forward and cambered profile give the kite a smoother, more energetic feel.

“There’s something really special about the new Orbit. What stands out most for me is the second lift, that moment the kite catches me after the loop feels smoother than ever before. And the purple kite, easily my favorite color from the range.” - Nathalie Lambrecht, North Team Rider

Features:

Faster-flying Thinner LE:
The 2026 Orbit is faster-flying with more direct turning, vertical lift, and improved low-end. The thinner LE also increases the loop speed, so it can fly forward and catch you quicker.

Aerodynamic Contoured PTP2:
A zigzag-shaped single transition panel helps reduce spanwise tension in the seams, smooths out the profile shape, and creates a cleaner transition from the leading edge to the canopy.

Response 5-Point Bridle:
The extra bridle point supports the slimmer LE, maintaining the rigidity of the lighter airframe and ensuring stability for controlled response, energetic feel, and increased depower.

Reduced Drag, Increased Lift:
The Orbit’s segmented arc is slightly narrower in the shoulders and wider in the wingtips, for reduced drag and faster turning. The slightly deeper profile in the center creates more lift.

N-Max2 Pro-Technology Airframe:
A durable and lightweight airframe material. The multi-layer longitudinal weave improves consistency and tear strength and has greater bias elongation for more dynamic steering.

5-Strut Stability:
Five struts provide additional canopy support, keeping the profile steady for incredible top-end stability, wind range and more control over the canopy movement at low attack angles.

Higher Aspect Ratio Design:
Low-drag, high lift profile. Sits further forward in the wind window for upwind and boosting performance. The HA ratio provides more area in the center of the kite for efficiency and relaunch.
