First session in rowdy and cold conditions (55f and 30-50mph winds)... coming from a 99l armstrong board, the Flux was more difficult to get going as my first sinker board (-15l) and 21" vs. 28" wide. But for a first session was starting to get used to it. The 'canoe' shape doesn't get stuck in the water when hitting chop, and feels like it slices through the water getting onto foil. Looking forward to spending more time on this new and progressive shape!

ok Big Dawgz, I have found a unicorn !! I have had a few sessions on the Omen Flux board and it is sooo good. This board is a mash up of a mini simmons surfboard , mini downwind wing board and free style wing board , maintains a length at 5’2 and width 21.5 so fast in the water. They did go too thick on the foam , so not corky at all. It has good float and stability and the direct feedback from the foil is excellent . Many boards that try to be everything typically do none of them well but this board is the exception. So yes, this board does everything well: pumps, fast on foil, hard turns , surfs and free style jumps ( smaller sizes). i started with the 84L Omen flux (5’11 x 21.5) and man was it fast on foil and responsive in light wind. At 21.5 wide it was so stable above and below water. Paired with progression unifoil made for a great combo. After liking what this board has to offer i made a leap and picked up the 60L model ( 21.5 x 5’2) . i was nervous about this decision because my smaller pizza box style boards were so pitchy and a struggle to manage in the ocean chop. After my first session it was game on. Not only was the board very stable, fast on foil it was so easy to jibe, tack ride swell etc. It felt like I was riding a prone setup and I’m sure i could use this for prone foiling. At 100kg, i never would have guessed I would be on such a small responsive board. Well, I guessed wrong and this will be daily driver not just a high wind board. Also, because it’s fast on foil, it creates potential to downsize my foil and wing in typical conditions. This is the board I have been waiting for.

This setup is so fast on foil, I foresee I will be able to downsize my foil and wing which is exciting. In this video i’m on the progression 170 (1097 sq cm) but could have easily been on the progression 125 (800 sqcm) I have a feeling this board will just keep getting better and has a lot to teach me in my foiling progression. I also plan to use it for my Gen 2 foil drive when it arrives. Hat offs the Omen foils and apple tree boards for leading the future in foil board design and construction. Can’t wait for the Flux Capacitor board to be released ?

Ok, so I have been looking for a wing foil board with these dimensions for a while and with a downwindish design flare to it. Most boards were longer than 6ft and wider (23ish) with flattish bottoms, not bad but I was looking for more. These boards had better dimensions , were more to my liking also made by Appletree so I knew they were bomber construction. I'm 100kg and decided to try the 84L. Even though it was narrow (21.5) it was not tippy and wow does this board take off, was on foil so fast even in light wind 9-10 ish. The rail to rail action is so easy and fun in the surf too. So I was convinced this was the unicorn i was looking for, so I tried the 60L board even though it seemed to be on the small side. Most of my small short sinker board were tippy and sometimes a struggle to get going. This board was none of that. Below the surface it was so stable and could even control it while it was submerged. The nose would get to the surface fast and in a controlled manner. Once on the surface it was off to the races, so fast on foil. Being on a this board and small foil made this feel like a true prone experience and setup was as light as one. So responsive and fast and touch downs just bounce off the surface. It blew my mind and I couldn't stop smiling after may session !! Their design is like nothing else on the market. I recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

With only a few sessions under my belt, it is clear that the team at Omen have knocked it out of the park with the Flux. While a bit more weight sensitive during starts, the Flux gets planing quickly and efficiently for such a small and narrow board (I ride the 48L at 72kg). Going upwind, I've found that I can really rake the board over without fear of having the rail hit the water given the narrow outline and the rail shape. Jibes and tacks seem easier and I can really carve through my maneuvers with confidence. Jumps are a breeze and the nose shape really helps recover from touchdowns quite well. The construction is top notch as should be expected from Appletree and their board building pedigree. My only suggestion for future iterations would be to sacrifice a bit of weight and add more footstrap inserts to accommodate a wider variety of riding styles.

Went from a 98L traditional short wide foil board to the Flux 72L, and it looking back. After two sessions on the Flux I am selling my old board and my 8M wing. I am 175lb and this is the lowest volume board I have ever had. I was worried about starts, but has been no problem getting to my knee and standing. I was looking for a smaller downwind style board when I came across the flux. It’s like a down wind board with the pin tail chopped off. The board accelerates so quickly when pumping I am easily foiling in 12mph on a 6M when I used to have to use a 8M. Best part about this board is I can use it for everything light wind to 40 mph in the Gorge. The 22” width is narrow enough to carry without a handle and the board is very light. The deck pad is very sticky but low profile.
