2026 MACkite Lesson Signup Is Live!
MACkite has been giving watersport lessons since 2001. The MACshack, our main lessons center, is located on a section of beach in Muskegon reserved exclusively for our students. Teaching hundreds of students per year to safely ride and learn the love of kiteboarding, Winging and eFoiling with the latest gear, we're in the business of making riders!
What Watersports Lessons We Offer:
Kiteboarding Lessons: Kiteboarding requires several lessons and many hours of practice to learn. Before signing up for a kiteboard lesson, please carefully read our kiteboarding lessons page to see what it takes to learn to kiteboard. These lessons are for people looking to truly learn, rather than a one-time casual fun experience.
eFoil Lessons: eFoil lessons are perfect for someone looking for an exciting adventure on the water that can almost always be learned within a single lesson! eFoil is a battery-operated foilboard that lifts you up and out of the water using an electronic motor and a remote to control the speed.
Wing Boarding Lessons: Winging is incredibly fun and versatile. Wings can even be used with paddleboards, which we start students on! After learning to wing, you can also learn to foil (by taking an eFoil lesson), then combine the skills to learn to wing foil.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy
You may cancel your lesson or camp up to 10 days prior to the camp for a full refund. Any lessons cancelled thereafter may incur a $100 penalty. Please remember that we have only so many spaces available, and that a cancellation forces us to potentially lose a spot. Thank you for being considerate in this matter.
If you have any more questions, feel free to call or email us at any time. Remember, if you don't start this year, you will still be just watching next year, wishing you were on the water with us.

A Little About Mike:
I’m a professor at Central Michigan University, where I focus on creativity in the context of AI. I’m married to a fellow professor and a proud dad of two recent college-graduate daughters. When I’m not teaching, I’m chasing wind and water. From the beaches of Lake Michigan to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and my new favorite spot in Lac Bay on Bonaire, I’m always looking forward to my next ride. For me, wing foiling, kiteboarding, and surfing are as much about the Zen as the thrill - being out in nature, unplugged and fully immersed. As an instructor, I tailor my approach to each student, helping you build confidence, stay safe, have fun, and develop your own style on the water. My goal is simple: help you progress in a way that fits you and keeps you coming back for more.
Why do you teach?
Aside from the fact that I simply enjoy teaching, and getting to do it at the beach is a summer bonus, I teach for MacKite to share my love of water sports and to meet interesting people. And, in my experience, those who sign up for kite or wing lessons are always interesting people.

A Little About George:
Grew up in New England, lived in California, Hawaii, Guam and Alaska, moved to Michigan and met my wife and have stayed put ever since. I enjoy biking, kayaking, camping, fishing, skiing, traveling — did I mention fishing?
Why do you teach?
I enjoy teaching, coaching and helping others achieve their goals. I get just as pumped when a student hits their goal or a significant milestone during their journey. I love hearing from students after lessons and learn about their progression and experience. Fair winds and tight lines, peace

A Little About Katie:
Outside of the water, I spend most of my time with my husband and my two boys (>1 years and 5years) and my doggo Blu. I love to travel internationally, and go on any adventure I possibly can!
Why do you teach?
I got into e-foiling because I love being on the water and trying new things. Teaching has become my favorite part—especially seeing people go from unsure to confident in a single session.
