Description

2026 ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND

It’s all downwind from here

Construction: Bamboo / Carbon

Sizes: 6'4 / 6'8 / 7'0 / 7'4 / 7'8

The new Free lineup expands F-One’s already extensive board range, adding another mid-size option to the mix. These boards lean more toward freeride and efficiency than the surf-focused models, making them a great fit for both wingers and parawingers.

For more volume and low-wind capability, check out the Free DW models. If you’re after a more powered, surfy board with less bulk, the Free Surf is the way to go.

What F-One has to say

Designed for freedom, engineered for performance. The new ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND board combines glide, volume, and acceleration in an elongated shape, perfectly suited to the striving new sports such as pocket winging and K-Winging.

  • Maximum glide and fast take-off
  • Ideal for pocket winging, K-Winging, or SUP foiling
  • Optimized volume for stability, acceleration, and early take-off
  • 2 Constructions:
    • Light bamboo construction for a very direct feel
    • Ultra-light and stiff carbon construction

The ROCKET FREE range was developed to meet the needs of emerging disciplines focused on freefly and downwind. In these sports, freedom is key: the wing or paddle is only used to take off before being put aside, stashed or flagged out to ride swells and ocean energy alone. This calls for boards with more length to improve glide and acceleration, along with enough volume to start planing quickly and with stability. Since take-offs in these disciplines are indeed more challenging than in wing foiling, these boards give you the edge you need to get going smoothly. In this spirit, the ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND builds on the fundamentals of the MIDLENGTH board: natural front/rear balance, stability, and glide, while pushing further. Its longer shape and stretched outline increase glide even more. A rear step and kicktail help build speed quickly and make touchdowns smoother. The shallow cockpit keeps control underfoot without adding excess thickness, and the width-to-thickness ratio strikes the perfect balance between stability and acceleration, even when underpowered. Compared to the FREE SURF, the FREE DOWNWIND is a more stable board, featuring increased thickness, a wider nose and bottom surface, and squarer rails. The foot pressure is slightly front-biased, following the feel of classic F-ONE boards. It’s designed for riders who prioritize stability and easy take-offs, even in challenging or choppy conditions. Built with our Bamboo Deck Construction, the board stays light and responsive, while maintaining durability and strength. The feeling of the foil is very direct, and control is absolute throughout the entire session, even at high speeds. From 6’4” to 7’8” (85 to 124L), the ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND is accessible, versatile, and made for performance whether you're chasing offshore bumps or looking for easy planing in any condition.

Session Impressions

Rider: Jeff (175 lbs)  |  Conditions: 17-19 knots

I just got off the water from my first parawing downwinder from Stony Lake to Meinert with Tuck. The wind was on the lighter side. I was using a 4.3m parawing paired with the 2026 F-One Rocket Free Downwind foil board (95L: 6'8" x 19.5") and an 890 Eagle foil.

At 175 lbs, this setup proved to be the ideal combination for parawing downwind conditions:

  • Board Efficiency: The shape of the F-One Rocket Free Downwind board makes it extremely efficient and easy to get up to board speed quickly, allowing you to ride a smaller, high-performance foil.
  • Foil Pairing: Because of the board's efficiency, I was able to run the 890 Eagle foil. Being a foil I frequently use for winging, wave riding, and downwind swell, it felt comfortable and responsive immediately.
  • Dimensions & Stability: At 19.5 inches wide, it offers the perfect width stability without feeling overly wide or cumbersome when parawinging.
  • Versatility: It serves as a great everyday setup for lighter winds, powered-up conditions, and doubles as an excellent light-wind wing foiling board that won't hold you back on the waves.
