What North has to say:

Lively, nimble, and easy to ride, the Reach is our most versatile go-to kite for all conditions. Lighter overall with more reactive steering, the 2026 Reach has a slimmer N-Max2 LE for faster-flying and extra bridle points for structural support. The kite's new profile enables cleaner airflow and a smoother feel, with more lift for easier transitions. A more swept design, slightly higher aspect ratio, and refined bridling deliver more direct steering and dynamic recovery, with quick, responsive depower. It excels in light wind and surf, and gives rise to confident boosts, freeride and freestyle. In the 13-19m, the light wind Reach is fast-flying with consistent drive forward.

Features:

  • Faster-flying, thinner LE with improved twisting capacity
  • Additional bridle attachment points support thinner LE
  • Optimised profile for cleaner airflow and smoother feel
  • Enhanced lift for easier transitions
  • New PTP2 transition panels for optimal seam tensioning & aerodynamics
  • Lighter overall weight and more reactive steering

Overall, it was a really great session and something of a breakthrough ride for me as a newer rider. This was my first time flying a 17m kite, as I have only flown smaller kites previously. The kite handled really well, and I was able to ride more consistently than ever before. With a little more time and fewer kiters around, it likely would have been a breakthrough session to potentially ride upwind.

The bar and kite paired together perfectly for a simple, straightforward setup. Even though larger kites are generally considered less responsive, I still felt completely in control. The setup offered the precision needed to continue mastering water starts and keep the kite in the air when I fell into the water.

I have been using the same board and Source bindings throughout my progression thus far, and I continue to appreciate the stability and ease of use. I feel more comfortable on it every time I ride. Hopefully, we keep getting good wind as we enter the fall season so we can keep this momentum going.
