One question on every new winger’s mind is how many liters do I need in my wing board? Will it float me? Can I get away with a smaller size? Can I get one board to learn on that is small enough that I will never want to upgrade? The below chart provides a general framework for sizing your board based on weight and experience.

Which wing size is right for you?

As a general rule, a rider under 150 pounds should start with a wing around 4 square meters. For riders over that weight, a 5 meter wing will be a better place to start. This is very much an average - if you're riding in lighter winds or want more power, you'll want to go with a larger wing. If you're a light weight rider or winging in high winds, you'll want to go with something smaller. 

If this is your second wing and you are looking for consistent, high performance across the whole wind range, it's smart to separate your wings by 1M increments for most models. That will ensure you are going to have a wing that is properly powered no matter what the wind is reading.

Perhaps you are looking to make each wing maximize its wind range, then a 2m gap works well until you get below 4m. At that point, you'll want to go to 1m gaps due to the exponential power of wind at higher speeds. Using this method, you'll have times where you are overpowered or underpowered at times depending on the range of wind and the sail you chose but it will help you maximize your range using fewer wings.

The Hover Crossover reflects Naish’s waterman lifestyle, combining a multitude of boardsports with 4-in-1 performance — wing-surfing, windsurfing, foiling, or SUP. New for this season, we have refined the Hover Crossover’s shape by creating a more compact outline and increasing performance, especially for wing foiling. This new shape comes in two sizes, 115 L and 135 L. We have added foot strap positions for wing foiling while keeping the windsurf positions in place. The results of these changes are increased versatility and performance. The rocker line and bottom shape are made to provide SUP surfing performance when ridden without a foil. The 10” track system is strategically positioned for both surf and windsurf foiling. Our new Hover Wing foil LE range is designed to reduce swing weight to an absolute minimum while still offering stability and ample volume for their size. These boards are targeted for riders who already know how to foil and want to ride the shortest board possible. These boards, are about 15% shorter at a comparable volume to the Hover Wing Foil Carbon Ultra line. The reduced swing weight makes them feel more maneuverable. The compressed volume distribution is focused to the main stance area, still making it easy to get started. They require a bit more skill to get up on the foil than the Hover Wing Foil Carbon Ultras and are more sensitive when it comes to for and aft balance.

Our last generation Hover Wing Foil instantly set the standard in design, construction, and weight for the category. This new range of boards is perfectly suited for wing surfing, or to be used as a SUP foil board, SUP downwind foil board or prone foil surf. Changes to this updated model include a more overall rail curve in the outline, slightly narrower tails, increased nose rocker, and more pronounced bottom shaping and concave. Multiple foot strap insert positions, including wider stance options, give riders the opportunity to choose between a windsurfing style, double front strap setup, or a single surf style setup. The rocker is perfectly balanced so the board flies smoothly parallel to the water surface. Track boxes have been moved further back to better match with the multitude of different foils that riders may pair with the boards. The increased tail kick behind foil boxes combined with the beveled rail guarantees easy take odds and sufficient clearance in turns.

Utilizing an S-Glass/wood sandwich construction with carbon and kevlar reinforcements, the GS is available in 110L and 125L the hover wing/foil gs offers the same shape and overall performance as its carbon ultra siblings, yet more durable and affordable construction.

Our last generation Hover Wing Foil instantly set the standard in design, construction, and weight for the category. Adding an 80 L to the line, the Hover Inflatables feature a stiffer bottom carbon plate with track systems, newly added foot strap positions, an improved carry bag with pump storage, and a segmented EVA deck pad for ease of packing. For adventure seekers or travel enthusiasts, the Hover Inflatable packs up into a carry case size, making your next adventure even easier.

The 6" sidewall also contributes to the overall board stiffness, volume and stability. JET 1050 + 1250

Naish Jet foils feature a medium aspect ratio delta-wing planform with moderate anhedral to deliver the optimum combination of early lift, speed, and turning ability. These wings are the ideal choice for foil surfing as well as a wide range of disciplines from windsurfing and wing-surfing to downwind kite foiling. The 1050 and 1250 are the go-to sizes for surf foiling in faster, steeper surf. These wings are also an excellent option for light wind kite foiling and windsurf foiling on crossover style boards. These wings are paired with the Stabilizer 320 back wing, which gives the complete setup more intuitive turning and response for pumping.

To make the S27 complete foil Naish’s best yet, each component has been completely redesigned with an emphasis on making them ultra-lightweight and strong.

JET1650, 2000, 2450

The Jet 1650, 2000, and 2450 share many similar features to their smaller 1050 & 1250 counterparts. These larger wings feature a slightly higher aspect ratio in a delta wing planform with moderate anhedral to deliver early lift and a low stall speed while maximizing turning ability. These wings are the ideal choice for larger surfers surf foiling as well as SUP, downwind, and Wing-Surf foiling. These wings are paired with the Stabilizer 450 back wing, which gives the complete setup more lift at lower speeds and is optimized for improved turning and pumping performance.

JET MA 850, 1000, 1200, 1600 & 2000

Designed for advanced and semi-advanced foilers looking to push their performance levels in surf, SUP, Wing-surfer, and downwind foiling. New for this season is the 1040 and 2140, further expanding the HA range. These wings feature high aspect ratio planforms and proprietary thin section profiles — the result is maximum glide, excellent pumping, and improved top speed while still maintaining the excellent turning and control that defines the Jet range. To complement the high-end performance of these new wings the complete foils feature a new high aspect stabilizer as well that emphasizes pumping ability and glide. Designed with a thinner profile and higher aspect ratio, they support the higher speed of the HA front wings while giving excellent response to rider input.

The 850 is fast, nimble and great for high speed foiling. Lighter riders will love the feel of this foil when wing foiling or surfing.

The 2000 pushes the envelope of flatwater pumping. This foil excels at low speeds or when wing foiling in light winds.

It is hard to believe that the Wing-Surfer is now entering its fourth generation! The sport that Naish launched with the original “one-size-does-all” handheld wing has since taken the world by storm. Keeping pace with the rapidly advancing sport of wingfoiling, the Naish Wing-surfer MK4 checks all the boxes in terms of performance, features, and range. It is designed to be a wing that excels at everything, from beginner to advanced, from cruising to racing, to wave riding or jumping. On the performance side, the MK4 packs the perfect balance of low end power, overall frame rigidity and upper end control. The target was balancing good “sheet-in-andgo” power in the lower wind range with speed and handling in the upper wind range. This may sound simple, but it’s not. Too much power or stiffness and a wing becomes unruly when powered up. Too little power or stiffness and the wing will be hard to get going and collapse with heavier riders. The MK4’s increased strut and leading edge diameter add stiffness to the center triangle of the inflated structure for maximum power and stability. The leading edge diameter then quickly tapers out towards the wingtips, allowing the tips to flex off just the right amount for superior control and top speed under higher loads. The draft has also increased slightly over the S26 Wing-Surfer for added “get-up-and-go.” Medium canopy tension allows the wing to “breathe” slightly and luff without being overly loose or tight… again increasing the overall range of each size. These parameters, along with leading edge dihedral that is consistent with the S26 makes for a very balanced feel and predictable power delivery in all winds and at all angles of attack.
