Ride Engine Spreader Bar Options & Sizing

Ride Engine: Sizing & Choosing Your Spreader Bar

Today, we’re talking about the all-new Ride Engine harness lineup.

We’ve broken down the three different harness styles in a previously, and now we have three different spreader bars to figure out.

Ride Engine Spreader Bar Options

Metal Slider Bar

  • Available sizes: 8" or 10"
  • Perfect for: Surf-style and freeriding
  • Heavier of the two slider options

Metal Fixed Hook Bar

  • Available sizes: 8" or 10"
  • Perfect for: Unhooked riding

Carbon Slider Bar

  • Available sizes: 8" or 10"
  • Perfect for: Surf-style and freeriding
  • Lightest and stiffest bar option
  • Pairs well with the Elite harness

For people that do a lot of riding in the waves and also ride wakestyle a bit, I kind of want to have both. It’s really easy to change in between the two spreader bars, so it’s something that you can definitely choose both and go both directions.

Ride Engine Sizing

Sizing is actually quite easy. So, what you have are two different spreader bar options and then the different size options throughout the harness range. So, if you’re in between a small and a medium, you can use the 8” and the 10” spreader bars to account for the differences there.

Myself, I’m a 32” waist and I prefer the smallest back harness as possible. That’s what they encouraged us to ride. I tried a medium with the 8” and I tried a small with a 10”. The small with a 10” worked so much better for me. If you’re in between with the sizing, you could definitely select the appropriate spreader bar and the appropriate back to make things work for you.

Waist Size (Inches) 26-30" 31-32" 32-34" 35-36" 37-39" 40-42"
Waist Size (Centimeters) 66-76 78-81 81-86 89-91 94-99 102-107
Harness Small Small Medium Medium Large X-Large
Bar Size 8" 10" 8" 10" 10" 10"

*Ride Engine employs a unique spreader bar system that is not compatible with other spreader bars.
