The Story Behind "Sessions"

Welcome to "Sessions"!

I'm just a dude from a kite shop making videos and testing all the gear, one session at a time. A year ago, I started working with two talented individuals, Blake Olsen and Crystal Veness. The goal was simple: put out the most thorough and relatable kiteboarding trick-tips online and produce the most informative and useful kiteboarding travel guide on YouTube.

One year later and we're working hard and having a lot of fun creating useful content.

Blake Olsen doing what he does best: sharing the stoke and getting more than his fair share of water time!

From all the best hotspots to hidden gems, plan your next kiteboarding trip with us and don't hesitate to reach out!

Crystal Vaness - Progreso Mexico - Yuckite: Destinations EP01

With a year under our belt, it's time to step it up a notch. I've started working on a new project with the crew at MACkite. Foilboarding has really taken off and everyone in our shop is amped on this new facet of our sport. Especially Tucker Vantol- he's a fanatic to say the least. We kicked off the spring 2018 season with a new goal: to build the largest  Foilboarding Knowledge Center online.

As foilboarding is currently going though a renaissance and changing daily, we're putting all the new gear to the test; Reporting back to you and having a blast getting on the water, the waves, and behind the boat. We have a long road ahead of us and we're taking if you've got questions, tune in and leave a comment.

Tucker Vantol - Naish Hover 112 + Thrust Surf L Full Review

Tucker has taught me so much about kiteboarding the last few years. I'm stoked to help him share foilboarding.

A few months ago Blake and Crystal needed a break so I decided it was time to get in front of the camera and start making useful kite reviews. Thus, Versus came to be. It's been a wild ride testing gear and really putting thought into how everything stacks up.

The funny thing is that I'm not that much of a gear tweaker myself. I firmly believe that you can progress on just about any gear.  Getting water time trumps technology every time. Now, all that said, it is difficult to decide which kiteboarding kite will be the most fun to fly, which one will suit your style, and which kite will prove to be the best tool for the the job for years to come.

The truth is that there is a lot of confusion when it comes to gear! It seems every kite does everything well these days, leaving everyone wondering "what does it not do well". The goal of Versus is to educate and give you perspective on where each kite excels and how it compares to the performance of other gear.

Versus With Rygo

Have a question? Leave a comment and I'll do a review for you.

After a couple months I realized just how much work was going into these reviews. I also realized there was a great story and lots of sessions happening between every video.  Then it dawned on me: "Why not tell the story behind the reviews?" The story behind the trick-tips, the adventures we have, and daily life working at MACkite. With "Sessions", we'll take everyone along for the ride. Now, of course, there has to be something in it for you. So for every episode of "Sessions", we'll link up with a rider and chat about the gear they choose to ride and why there riding it.  I'll share my notes from each test session on all of the kiteboarding gear for Versus.
