On frozen Reed's Lake in Grand Rapids, MI
Snowkiting, kiteskiing, kiteskating, and iceboating all make an appearance at this annual kite festival. Join the fun or watch from the deck of Rose's Restaurant while enjoying FREE hot dogs, chips and hot cocoa, generously provided by Rose's. Inside Rose's kids can build their own FREE kites, compliments of MACkite.

World Ice and Snow Sailing Championship 2012
February 20-26th, 2012
St. Ignace, MI
WISSA is the ONLY world event where wings, kites and sails all compete together on snow or ice, slalom and course. This event, which is the oldest event its type, will be celebrated for 32nd time right here in the United States.

The World Ice and Snow Sailing Association (WISSA) event is the longest running international competition in the history of windsurfing. It's also the most prestigious winter sailing event in the world. Held every year since 1980, the event location alternates annually between Europe and North America. This year it will be held in the 3rd oldest city in the U.S., St. Ignace, MI which was established in 1671.

Coast Guard Festival
July 27 - August 5, 2012

Okay, this festival has nothing to do with kiteboarding, but it's a lot of fun, and if you've been thinking about traveling to West Michigan for a lesson and want the family to have a good time too, there'll be plenty to keep them busy while you're on the beach.

Anticipate seeing riders 15-30 feet in the air and performing exciting maneuvers like Double Board Passes and 1080 Board Off Front Spins.
